"player's choice" games, are they worth less to collectors?
"player's choice" games, are they worth less to collectors?
i'm curious whether games denoted with "player's choice" (or equivalent for other game consoles) are worth less than their original release. anyone?

Yes they are. And for some titles they are worth ALOT less, just take a look at Square titles for the PSX.

i do my very best to not buy greatest hits or players choice games if i can help it, if the game is really good though, sometimes you have to, i think that trend either started on the gameboy or the snes...anyone know?

"black label" bullshit seems really silly to me. IT IS THE SAME FUCKING GAME.
the exact same game save for the print run. ooooo a green label! Better drop in price!
though.... i do love it because i can get games cheap.

well, i just won a copy of wind waker on ebay that didn't have a picture of the actual item. hoping it's not a player's choice version.

i understand what you are saying, and totally agree, for me its just a personal prefrence to have all black spines when looking at my collection, i think it looks more cleannickfil wrote:"black label" bullshit seems really silly to me. IT IS THE SAME FUCKING GAME.

yeah, its the same game. but i do get mildly finicky over it sometimes.. like if its a trilogy of games and the 2nd of the trilogy is a players choice label. it throws off the flow of things.
Oh, come on, don't leave your uncle T-Bag hangin'!

It does look more clean, but honestly at what price? Personally I am not willing to spend an extra hundred or two to have the same collectionSnickerd00dle wrote:i understand what you are saying, and totally agree, for me its just a personal prefrence to have all black spines when looking at my collection, i think it looks more clean
the flow of things? It doesn't hurt the experience of playing the game at all. The only thing it does is give you less pride in your shelf with other super hardcore gamers. AND TO THEM I SAY GOOD DAY SIR!latenitevacancy wrote:yeah, its the same game. but i do get mildly finicky over it sometimes.. like if its a trilogy of games and the 2nd of the trilogy is a players choice label. it throws off the flow of things.

i completely agree, i never go out of my way to find and or pay for a non greatest hits, because it would cost a ton, i tend to just wait until i can find one for a cheap price, which is fairly often
Re: "player's choice" games, are they worth less to collectors?
Until recently my stance on greatest hits vs. regular was that I was willing to pay up to $10 more for the original version, so that it would look nice. But otherwise I wold just get the greatest hits version, as I wasn't willing to wait around to find a good deal on a black label.
Now I just buy whatever's cheapest and print off a new sleeve/put it into a DVD case with a custom cover. Go go Cover Project!
