I say keep the ports comin'. They keep prices low and give consumers plenty of options.
True that...but you also forgot your ys IV constant ports....I really need to get around to getting the physical ys games though I'd rather play it with a physical copy since it is a great game I just get lost like in final fantasy I XD

I mean who needs just new games when you can play the same game you just played last year again with a shiny new coat of paint and all the DLC. And then when the PS5 comes out I want them all re-re-released. Man 'cause those ps4 games are gonna look ugly compared to the ps5. Geez what was Nintendo thinking when they released the N64. They should've just rereleased every SNES game for the N64 with super awesome updated graphics..

Try again. Not a single one is a re-release. New games in respective series. I to an extent like re-releases, remasters, what ever you want to call them. Games released years later like Ys 1 & 2 so more can play it and really tweaking it so it plays much better is a good thing. Or releasing a compilation of the games years later at a great value. Last of Us and Tomb Raider are none of those things.

So you require some arbitrary length of time for it to be ok? Got it.

MK Trilogy is a re-release/update of UMK3, which was a SNES release

NBA Hangtime was released months earlier on SNES

They are the same basic idea as Tomb Raider and The Last of Us. They are shinier versions of the game with new features and extras. I really don't see the difference.

Doom i was wrong about, but it was marketed as Doom + new coat of paint, not as a brand new Doom game.

Admittedly to back the MK Trilogy thing, it features the same story as MK3 and UMK3. Both Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy were released on the Sega Saturn.

MK Trilogy is a re-release/minor expansion of MK3...hence trilogy as in...three.

Like someone else said, Hangtime was on SNES just a year prior, no different than The Last of Us.

Honestly, we could flood this thread with a million examples.

NBA Hangtime was developed at the same time by different developers. It was never presented as not coming out for other systems also and released within two months of each other. MK3 and Trilogy while sharing the same story and the basic gameplay is not just a prettier version with extra characters. The gameplay had tweaks. My point being MK3 and trilogy can both be owned because they offer a different play experience. Will Last of Us offer that? If I have Last of Us on PS3 with all DLC what am I getting extra? But even besides that the PS4 came out relatively recently and it already has 2 games being remastered: Tomb Raider and Last of Us. None of those have been out that long. Do you not agree the PS4 needs more new experiences?

But I guess in the end this just makes me more cautious of what I buy. Also why I am more of a retro gamer than current gamer, easier to get the best versions of games.

PS4 needs more new games, new experiences? That will come with time, unless you think 5 years from now they won't have any original content.

How can I play The Last of Us if I do not have a PS3? It is only on one console as of now. A PS4 is not a PS3, it does not have backward compatibility. It's almost as if people are assuming everyone has a PS3.

The Last of Us isn't even bloody old, it's not even a year old yet - I don't understand the problem. Is it a problem that Metal Gear Solid 5 will be released on current gen and last gen stuff too? What about the Arkham games or Assassins Creed? Was Twilight Princess a hack job because it was on Gamecube and Wii?

Is Megaman X3 a cash in too because it was released on SNES and PSX? Why is this a problem? The more platforms a game is on, the more accessible it is. The Last of Us is being released with all its DLC, on a platform that doesn't have many games - that is a good thing, not a bad thing.
