Well thats a generalization and stereotype. I was one of you "school gods". I dated a cheerleader and was a starting baseball and football player for my junior and senior year. Not glorifying it, but that is the stereotype. I also graduated with honors and the highest ACT score in my class, which I dont think is considered being a useless idiot. All stereotypes aren't true.

Highest doesn't imply good. If you give the ACT to 5 year olds one of the kids will get the highest score, but it'll still be a terrible score when compared against HS seniors.

(I'm sure you actually did get a respectable score on the ACT)

Yeah. I worded that wierdly. I just get kinda tired of people downing high school football players and thinking they are stupid (mostly because I was one of them  ). My graduating class had 10 senior football players and 2 are engineers and 2 are architects. Not saying that makes you smart, but it does imply at least some level of intelligence.

Admittedly though, this is a hobby that used to be primarily composed of the nerdy kids, many of which got bullied by the football players(as an example, I was bullied by the football team in middle school, but not high school. I moved right before high school, and the football players at my new school discovered I could help them with video games, so they would often come to me to ask questions about Final Fantasy games). So yeah, there is a bias borne from past experiences.

I was also in football and wrestling and AP classes etc. You have your range of dumb to smart, just like most other demographics. A big issue with sports is that it does take up more time which can take away from studies. However, I also think sports teaches many valuable things beyond being good at a sport.

I agree with this. We had the same thing in ROTC. In high school, I did ROTC and Math Team and took AP classes as well. Depending on the team in ROTC(and the amount of dedication required), time requirements could vary. The rifle team tended to get the most training in, though the ranger team took the most time on weekends to do repelling, survivalist training, and go on camping trips.

The crap is an ACT?

I took the SAT, scored a 1340 (how that number was so rounded so perfectly is goofy), fucked the prom queen and went to college. The rest isn't history, but it was fun.

True. Luckily my school was small and people didn't get singled out because they were "nerds" and most of the people knew each other since kindergarten. Kids fought and there was a bit of hazing on the sports teams, but it definitely never got the the level in the OP or Fragems story for that matter. Our administrators didn't take shit off of students, or parents for that matter.

I couldn't even sign up for an SAT where I lived  . The ACT rounding is goofy as hell too. When I took it, the highest you could make was a 32

For the record, I was being a sarcastic smartass about not sending my daughter to school. She'll go. But I do plan on hopefully returning to work at whatever elementary school she attends. My background is in elementary ed.

There's a decent "public-private" high school in the area that I'd like to send her to in 9th grade. We'll make that call once we see what the public high school looks like.

Yeah I plan a little in advance. Not as bad as the wife - who already has colleges picked out (not med schools tho, she doesn't want to see baby become a doctor, "too much bullshit" apparently).

I was a student-athlete in high school. Can't imagine getting through school without the sports.

I ended up taking both the ACT and the SAT since half the schools I applied to wanted the SAT and half wanted the ACT. Not sure what was up with the rounding for you; according to Wikipedia you could always make a 36.
