Student Records Proof of Bullying, gets charged with........

The threat of lawsuits and liability has basically forced their hand. If they allow some fighting to occur and turn a blind eye, and someone is seriously injured or killed, they are sued and lose their jobs.

I am not looking forward to when my child goes to shool and have to deal with all the ridiculous restrictions and rules they feel they have had to put in place since I have been to school.

The school policy at every school I went to when growing up was everyone involved in a fight got the same punishment even if you where just defending yourself. People got suspended all the time for getting their ass kicked even if they didn't fight back which was total bullshit. Basically they were training us to be sheep who never stood up for ourselves.


I remember the worst incident of bullying I experienced was in middle school. I was a pretty big guy but I wouldn't hurt a fly. For whatever reason a jock had it in for me and one day while I was bent over getting something out of my locker he kicked me in the nuts from behind and shoved me head first into the locker causing me to bang my head pretty good on the metal backing. I had asthma really bad at the time and this set off an attack. So I'm gasping for air with snot running out of my nose, and I'm crying because I really feel like I'm dying. So I start going towards the nurses office which is all the way at the other end of the school and the asshole follows me with a group of his friends all the way there calling me a "wuss", "crybaby", and etc. They didn't let off until we were right around the corner from the office at which point they ran off afraid they would be caught. So I get into the nurses office and of course they misplaced my back up inhaler so I sit there for 20 minutes doing breathing exercises while they call my parents to bring me one. Parents get there and I explain what happened they talk to the principle who drags the boy in. The kid starts crying because this incident would be his third suspension of the year for bullying and after three suspensions he can no longer participate in the football program or some BS.

Then..... the principle advises me to forgive the kid and drop the whole thing so he doesn't have to get kicked off the football team since the boy is obviously "So Sorry"(that he got caught). Since I figured I would be in even deeper shit if I caused him to get removed from the football team I played along but it really pissed me off that the school put me in such a position that it was "my" fault(making me a prime target) if he got removed from the football team. What made the whole experience even worse was what happened next though. After I told them I wouldn't press charges/file a claim whatever the principle then tells me to "apologize" to the kid who is pretty upset and crying. WTF so I get jumped from behind at my locker, have a severe asthma attack, and yet I have to apologize to the prick who did it great schooling there .

Needless to say I don't have much faith at all in the educational system it really has gone to hell.

I will say this though as much as I hate the way the public school system is handled I wouldn't deny my child the chance to go there. Being able to interact with a large variety of kids there same age really helps children develop socially. There really aren't many better places for them to develop friends and relationships then at school. Just be sure to keep an eye on them and help them when they need it.

If possible try not to move around to much. I know moving every 3-4 years really did a number on me. I eventually just gave up on making friends and didn't really start opening up again till I was around 20 .

I could be wrong and mistaken, but as far as I know 90% of home-schooled kids are in evangelical born again Christian homes.

I went to a high school in the South where "Niggers and Yankees" couldn't attend AP classes. Would I had rather been home schooled? No way. Even a sheltered narrow-minded school is still better than home schooling.

I don't get paid to guesstimate about North America's Home Schooled Percentage, but I can use Google (it's a search engine. Not like a train engine, but a site on the "Web" that helps you find stuff). Here's an example:

:Douche mode off: So yeah, you can look at general statistics, which have some fault, to correlate some numbers. I do think that 90% is a bit high, as you are talking about a fact and not an observation when you get to that level.

Granted, 97.5% usually means "a fact" but we do live in a society where majority rules, and anything over 70% certainly speaks volumes.

Yes, I think Bone would be dumb, silly, and an idiot to not place his darling child into public school. Home school isn't school, and kids need to be schooled.
