Hey guys,
I know a guy selling the PS1 classic "The Legend of Dragoon", he has $100 on it (decent price for a PAL copy, I live in AUS so there is no point getting the much cheaper NTSC copy). I've never played it but I loved the Final Fantasy games on the PS1, should I get it? Will I be able to get into it not having played it back in its hey-day? Should I just make a fake american account and get it off PSN for $10 instead? Having a physical copy is so much nicer though!
Advice?
Thanks!

Give it a $10 test shot first. If you like it, splurge. It is personally one of my favorite games. It is a little different from Final Fantasy, especially the battle system, but I would definitely recommend it.Victory Sh0t wrote:Hey guys,

Yeah I think that is very sound advice, thinking about this has lead me to believe that game collecting tendencies are increasing within me. I think I will take this as a warning and cease now before things get too out of hand ($) haha thanks for the advice!

No problem. Another option is to get a modded PSX. Its a little more expensive but could allow you to have hard copies of games for cheaper, but Im not sure how PAL works with modding.

One thing that's slightly different compared to other RPGs of the time is that there are Quick Time/Rhythm type events in order to do better damage in battles. Opinions on those might affect your enjoyment.

The mod only bypasses region check and not fix the display. Maybe buy the cheaper NTSC version and convert it to display in your PAL TV. Disadvantage is you'll need a modded PS1 to play the converted CDR discs, but at least you'll have an inexpensive original to keep.SirGawain wrote:No problem. Another option is to get a modded PSX. That is actually one of the reasons I love the game so much. It keeps most traditional elements but is more in depth that just pushing an attack button.Hobie-wan wrote:One thing that's slightly different compared to other RPGs of the time is that there are Quick Time/Rhythm type events in order to do better damage in battles.
