Is Shining In The Darkness a better game than Shining: The Holy Ark? I put over nearly 30 hours into Holy Ark last year, and the game just got more tedious and less fun the longer I played it. I finally quit despite being about 80% done with it. I'm just wondering if its predecessor was the better game.

Thanks, it takes me forever to resize things in forums ;-; (I just get confused with the different image size limits I guess ><)

I need to play that game again.
Haha thanks. It was really fun to draw out. :D (plus super useful...)

Unfortunately I haven't played Holy Ark (sadly I don't have a Saturn), but I'll say that Shining in the Darkness can get pretty grindy and likes to kick my butt if I'm not too careful (maybe it's easier for others but I'm not sure ha). I honestly think I like it because it's simple and I have a reason to draw out a map :lol: Oh I think the music was good if I remember correctly... (I haven't played in a while... I really should get back to it haha) So yeah that probably doesn't help you at all but I tried ><;

I guess I'm just too young for this thread. I used to use cheats and maps back when I was an impatient pre-teen, but I've had internet access and a home printer my entire life. And even back in the days before that stuff was easy to find online I would just ask friends or buy a guide for whatever game I was playing.

Back in the day, before I considered myself "Hardcore" LOL, I remember renting Mega Man 2 when it first came out. My buddies and I couldn't beat the game, but we kinda figured out the "trick" to how the password function worked. So we charted pages and pages of notes to help us construct "THE" master code. LOL. The one that put us at Dr. Wily's castle with all robots beaten. LOL. Good times.

^ I was similar with Mega Man 3. There's a certain square which relates to E-tanks, so I would always start from the beginning but with 9 E-tanks.

Yes, I agree!

I used to do that for King's Quest, I remember specifically the part (don't remember which title) where you have to go through a desert basically through trial and error. Mapped that crap. :)

My notebook is pretty...crazy.

I use to LOVE Madden and would play through season(s) with my favorite team and then record the League stats on paper. I started this with Madden '96 and I have stats all the way up to Madden '11, IIRC. Some years I would have 10+ seasons with a particular Madden version, other (mainly the later years) seasons just were a few.

I would record/write down everything. Passing stats, Rushing stats, Defensive stats (Interceptions, Sacks), etc. I would even record the Superbowl teams and results (even if I ended up losing in the playoffs, which was rare, I would still record the computer randomized results).

I have over 40+ pages with probably a total of 50+ seasons recorded. It's fun looking back at it and seeing some of the league leaders in the NFL. Former NFL stars that maybe had a few good years but were STUDS back in the day (Vick in '04 comes to mind).

Eventually I got burned out on the Madden games. Or maybe I just got sick of them. It took me long enough to realize that they were the same game year after year, just with updated rosters. EA getting the NFL exclusive contract hurt us consumers in the long run, IMO.
