When the game throws in a "puzzle", I agree. But usually the game is paint by numbers.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The game is unforgiving in the later levels. 8-3 and 8-4 can be total bastards. If I lose my fire flower I'm usually toast.

Well I always 'cheat' even without the Game Genie.darsparx wrote:nullxor wrote:I finally beat it with infinite lives and mega-jump.
That was quick. I think I might stick to smbd though if i play smb1...a lot easier when you can save
World 1-2, warp to world 4-1 then warp to world 8-1 from 4-2.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Well that's not technically cheating just using hidden warps built into the game right?

I say it's not cheating.
Good: I won an auction for a SNES with a controller and cables for $20 shipped marked as not working. The guy says "The problem with the console is that it powers on (The red power switch lights up),but can't see anything but a black screen.". So I'm hoping that his games or the cartridge slot are just dirty. I was about to buy a replacement back plate for a friend's broken power jack SNES so either this works or I paid an extra $8 for a replacement.
Bad: I can't seem to find work anywhere out here in the literal middle of nowhere. The only places we have are mom and pop shops and factories/mills.

Good luck null, I have a deck that has that exact problem (and I've seen a few other people complain). Games aren't dirty, and I've given the deck itself a reasonable cleaning (though to be fair, I only used 70% alcohol as it's what I had on hand, I should try again with some 90+%) with no luck. Tried 1st party RF, 1st part Composite, and 3rd party S-Video cables all with no luck, all of which were independently verified on another known good deck, as was the power cord and the games I was using to try.
But worst case scenario, you can probably part it out to make back that $8 extra you spent.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

You need to move. Certainly, you will come up with some reasons you should stay - "All my unemployed friends and family are here!" - but, ultimately, if there are no jobs, you need to relocate.nullxor wrote:Bad: I can't seem to find work anywhere out here in the literal middle of nowhere. (Surprisingly, people used to move a lot more than they do now, and our society is actually less mobile than it was 50 years ago. I also suspect that our society's recent unwillingness to relocate is closely tied with our nation's systemic unemployment.)
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Smile: Made a sale on my first day with a new company. Of course, that's what I was hired to do, and I don't have a quota, but if I did, I have already met it. My boss was completely floored.
I basically gave my boss my bank info, signed a dozen forms, said "I got a sale to make", made it, and came home.
Not resting on my laurels (whatever that means), but I couldn't have had a better first day. I'm not even expected to "go out on the field" for another three months, and I'm already killing it and making strong relationships.
Frown:
This sucks.
I spoke with my Sister for around an hour last night about how much I want to visit.
In short, she said "You can't visit if you bring the dog" her knowing I would need to bring the dog.
You have no clue how much I value my relationship with family members, so it hurts a ton that my Sister basically said "I don't want to see you". I have a two year old niece and a seven month old nephew that my Sister doesn't want me to see.
This isn't an issue of keeping my dog somewhere else, this was my Sister saying "You're not welcome". For whatever reason.

Or maybe she just really didnt want to have an older dog in the house who has issues controlling its bladder? I have friends/family who wouldnt want me to being my dogs when I visit, but it didnt mean they didnt want me to visit.
