I guess that's one way to look at it. I'm clearly in the minority as far re-releases go, which is probably why these things are successful. It still comes off as sleazy to me.

This happens in every other medium of entertainment including music, movies, etc, so this is not surprising at all. Previously though video games use to just do this by re-releasing through compilations with little to no enhancements to the gameplay. These days they simply are doing it differently by remastering the same game from one gen to another with graphical and gameplay enhancements or by just bundling in DLC and expansion packs into rereleases. It is just the nature of any of these businesses.

What? You think the PS3 version looks bad?

Bad in the sense that from everything I've seen of it, the hardware holds back what it's trying to do with the art; particularly the foliage. There are some static screens that look incredible but, those things make the less impressive parts stand out even more. It also has a ton of aliasing. I also felt the controls were pretty awful, so I wonder if in the PS4 version, if they improve the framerate that will improve as well. Take those thoughts for what they are, I don't own the game and only have played a little bit where my PS3 owning friends have let me. I think it's a step down from the consistency I saw in Uncharted 3 in my limited experience. Nicer lighting but lower overall image quality.

Looking forward to seeing how the PS4 version will turn out.

Finished the game recently, visually it was very good, with incredible amounts of foliage and debris, but the AI was the only aspect that irritated me on several occasions. I don't think they'll be able to fix that even for a PS4 re-release.

I have no issue with re-issues like this. I wish every game was ported to multiple systems.
THIS. It sucks we can't get a complete Virtual Console on Nintendo consoles, and in general I wish more publishers would re-release the quality games of their backlogs on every console.

You don't see book publishers only printing a book once, nor do you use old books being printed by exclusively one publisher.

Now we just wait for a few weeks before Uncharted 4, when they release the Uncharted Trilogy, it'll happen.

How is porting a game to a new system a money grab? Are all ports money grabs?

Well...yes, because the point of video games are to make money. Lame topic.

The Last of Us on PS3 isn't even cheap, why the hell would a newly made port be?

It's not simply a re-release, as it is basically a GOTY edition since there's $30 or so worth of DLC included for "free" as well as nice extras and all. As someone who bought the CE of the original (and the DLC), I also plan to buy this "definitive" version as it is one of my favorite games and I'd like to have the best version.
