Ah, Secret of Mana. Another big SNES title that I've yet to play. And as usual, your video makes me wanna play the game while watching it. Any plans to review Seiken Densetsu 3 (aka Secret of Mana 2)? From what I've heard from people I know that have played both, SoM2 just blows the first one away.

I'll use this opportunity to let you know that I'm watching videos as you post them, even if I don't have anything to post about it. As soon as you post a new video in this thread, I usually watch it as soon as I see it, or at most a day later. I'm pretty sure at this point I've seen all your videos. So if you ever hear the sound of crickets after posting a new link, rest assured that I watched it even if I don't post!

Also, I know I've posted in this thread reasons why I like your videos, but I forget if I mentioned this specifically. I like the speed of them. Your intro is exactly ONE second long, and you talk at a pace that isn't dragging but isn't too speedy fast that I have to rewind because I missed things. If anything, your videos are a little on the short side, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Often times, review videos are much longer than they actually have to be. Yours cut out the BS fluff and are direct and straight to the point. That's what I like most about them.

For me it's the ULTIMATE test of objectivity vs. subjectivity. I love that game, but I'm not sure I can recommend it, but at the same time I don't agree with many of the criticisms about the graphics at all, but the framerate is terrible, but... yeah. Lots to sort out in my brain yet.
Ah, Star Fox on the SNES. If you asked me about SNES games that didn't age well, Star Fox would be the first to come to mind. I just think Star Fox 64 made it obsolete. Still, I find it fun to play. At least every once in a while. It's more challenging. I don't find the graphics to be horrific. I don't think they aged well, but they're not hard to look at like a lot of PS1 games. One thing for sure, the music is still awesome!

The framerate is easily the most annoying part of the game. Some people have gone ahead and overclocked the GSU (the co-processor inside the cart most know as the Super FX chip). Though some argued if the faster clock rate actually helped framerate issues or just sped the game up (which makes certain events end sooner than the audio). But in fact, this seems like such a popular idea that the developer of the Sd2snes flash cart (which might support the GSU one day) listed "Will it support GSU overclocking?" in his FAQ.

As someone who has played both, yes, I can confirm Seiken Densetsu 3 blows away Secret of Mana. Not to say SoM is a bad game, just that SD3 takes everything it did and makes it even better.

As always thanks for watching, I really do appreciate it! The feedback from this board is always top notch as well.

Interesting idea, Star Fox Turbo a la Street Fighter II Turbo. It doesn't look like it helps the frame rate out much, but its still pretty cool.

Agreed, I've never finished it, but SD3 blows SoM out of the water. I'd like to do a video on that game sometime but I'd like to at least finish one of the paths first.

I appreciate you noticing this because that's exactly what the intent is. I just got tired of seeing so many bloated reviews with 1-minute long intros (okay I get it, you know how to use After Effects, congratulations) that going in the opposite direction seemed like the right thing to do.

 I checked to see the upload date to make sure it's not your April Fool's joke when I saw the title of the game.

Also I don't know about the Egyptian and Norse armies, but the Greek units actually speak modern Greek. They use waaay too official sounding words mind you, which would make it a weird way to speak in everyday life, but it's modern Greek none the less.

And I have to say, I can't choose between this or Age of Kings as to which one is the best AoE game of all time. They are both simply amazing.

That's awesome! Prostagamah? Vulome. Etimos? Neh. Esvoli! (Way off on the spelling, I know, I just like saying those things because I'm dumb like that)

Well you can't really spell the wrong since you are using a different alphabet
And it's prostagma, and ne, the other ones are as close as you can get to spell Greek words with the latin alphabet.

If you wan to compare, Civilization V used real ancient Greek (for Greece) and medieval Greek (for Byzantium). I can half understand what Theodora is saying, but I get about 5% of what Alexander is saying :/.

So you'll be buying the HD re-release? I'm thinking of buying it, maybe we can arrange a racketboy group to play games online together? (and I prefer the Egyptians over Greece btw :P)

Yeah I got it pre-ordered, I started a thread in the "Other Genres" section for RB group play purposes

Congrats mate :D. Hope you get to 1000 in half the time

What's the game from your childhood that isn't good anymore?

Also if you get to reviewing Mega Drive stuff you owe me to start with Sonic & Knuckles since I was your first subscriber
