What Is The Scariest Game You've Ever Played?
Re: What Is The Scariest Game You've Ever Played?
Back in the day, it was Alone in the Dark or DOOM. Since then, it is Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

It is partially emulated on PCs as of a few months ago. Here is the tutorial on Assembler, which requires an account to view:Ack wrote:Well damn. Did this actually get released in the US? I thought it was Japan-only.

I tend to play my games alone in my apartment with all the lights turned off, so Dead Space really freaked me out. The atmosphere and environment in that game is perfect, and the sense of isolation is the icing on the cake.

Yeah, actually, same here. I found Dead Space unnerving at first but after the second chapter or so, it pretty much become rote "shoot this limb and stomp that body." Necromorphs are surprisingly easy once you figure out their weaknesses: shoot the leg, shoot the arm, they're probably dead but if not shoot the other arm, done. If more than one, shoot the leg out from under them all first and then take your time finishing them all off. Once again, kneecapping proves its effectiveness.[/quote]Damm64 wrote:On a side note im surprised how many people were scared with dead space.
It dosen't help that the game tells you the weakness of the enemies 10 minutes in.
Yeah the game has a great atmosphere i was enjoying the game until chapter 7 or so when they decide that more the better and throw a shit ton of enemies at you. The combat is not that fun so it becomes dull rather quickly and since there's very little quiet time in later chapters the atmosphere is broken.Retrogamer0001 wrote:I tend to play my games alone in my apartment with all the lights turned off, so Dead Space really freaked me out. I play these kind of games alone in the living room with the lights off at night... that's the best way to enjoy those things.

Scariest game I have played was RE:Code Veronica but I was pretty young and I never really got into the horror genre of video gaming so not sure how it holds up. I would very much like to snag a copy of Silent Hill(never played) and try that out with the lights off tho. That game has been on my list for awhile now.

Do it. You won't regret it. Unless you don't like not being able to sleep.MulishaSoldier929 wrote:I would very much like to snag a copy of Silent Hill(never played) and try that out with the lights off tho. That game has been on my list for awhile now.

I don't know about it being the scariest but in Resident Evil, when you enter a room in the caverns and a huge ass spider is waiting for you, I jumped
