Pretty good point.
As devs Square is up in the air for me thesedays, but I think they've become a great publisher. Along with Sega, hit or miss stuff...

Sega seems to have been more miss than hit recently...Xeogred wrote:Pretty good point.

I prefer to remain optimistic.BoringSupreez wrote:Right. How many times has Sega said they were returning Sonic to form, after all?Aramonde wrote:I don't trust SE at all when they say they've learned their lesson.ZeoDefender wrote:SquareEnix seems to have learned from its mistakes
Capcom disagrees with you. They're opening up two new R&D buildings and planning to hire 100 developers every year until 2022 expanding their workforce to 2,500 developers. Mobile games don't develop themselves I guess.marurun wrote:Capcom's problem is that they are currently too big. They are trying to compete in too many markets against too many AAA publishers. The US market is the largest, but is currently dominated by US and EU developers with PC-derived game styles. Capcom simply hasn't adjusted well. Their options are either to do what Sega and Square are doing and publish more games by US dev houses that appear to western markets, or retrench, shrink a bit in size and expenditure, and go back to that core market of JPN- and retro-styled games.

What I get from that is that Capcom saw some success with the freemium model on mobile devices and is going to try again (and again and again). Sadly, freemium development doesn't do much for gamers like us.

I'm just glad to see them focus more on internal development again, at least. They got crazy with the outsourcing there for awhile. DmC, Lost Planet 3, etc... I can't think of an example of where someone else improved one of their series. lol

But is there a point in them developing the games themselves? All their great game designers have pretty much jumped ship. The only series that are still good are the ones who's designers have stayed (namely their DS adventure games).

What is wrong with DmC other than they changed Dante's hair color? Did you really think DMC4 was better than DmC?Xeogred wrote:I'm just glad to see them focus more on internal development again, at least. They got crazy with the outsourcing there for awhile. Inticreates refers you to Megaman Zero 1-4 and Megaman 9 and 10.Xeogred wrote:I'm just glad to see them focus more on internal development again, at least. Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: More bad news for Capcom
Capcom's had some games I'd call good recently, even if the titles everyone knows about are awful. To wit:
-Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
-Street Fighter IV (Yes they've made at least two updates, last check. How is that any different from Street Fighter II/III?)
-Okamiden
-Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Again, two updates at least. They've been doing this since 1992.)
-Asura's Wrath
-Resident Evil: The Mercenaries/Revelations
-Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes
-Dragon's Dogma
-Ducktales Remastered
-Devil May Cry

-Ducktales Remastered
-Devil May Cry
Consoles: N64, Wii, Dreamcast, PS2, SNES, Saturn, Genesis, PS3, NES, Wii U, 2600, PS4
Handhelds: Game Boy Advance, 3DS, PSP, New 3DS

Re: More bad news for Capcom
Honestly it seems this game has gotten so much hate simply for that reason and the fact that it was handled by another "non-Japanese" team.Violent By Design wrote: What is wrong with DmC other than they changed Dante's hair color? Did you really think DMC4 was better than DmC?
Again I don't get the hate for this, other than the fact that they are full priced games when they come out, and people expect you can do these updates with payed DLC these days.TheBrick wrote: -Street Fighter IV (Yes they've made at least two updates, last check. But personally I just wait for them to fall in price and I don't mind either way. Heck I prefer it, cause I own physical copies of the games now
