What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

:) : The boss man at work offered to give me some extra work by doing some filing work for them and that if I decided I wanted to do it he'd give me an extra $3 an hour. He gave me a couple of days to think about it and I have a few questions I need to ask him, but it would be nice to be given raise and some extra work that would be relatively easy for me and put my OCD to good use

:D & : A couple weeks ago Mom got a letter from the insurance company informing her that we'd been overpaying for Dad's policy for over a decade (don't know how that happened, but there you go) and that she would be receiving a refund for the overpayment plus interest. So far we've received three separate checks and, damn, when they said she'd overpaid they weren't kidding. So this has naturally put my mother in a very good mood (she's currently shopping for new dishwashers to fill in that gaping hole under our cabinets) , so good that when we went to the bank the other day she turned around and handed me $200.

"What is this for?" I asked, immediately mentally smacking myself for possibly looking that elusive Gift Horse in the mouth.

"For that game you bought." She said.

"Um, which one?" I asked. (There are so very many of them, after all.)

"I don't know. That pricey one you told me you bought online a while ago. Dragon...erm, something."

"Drakengard 3?"

"That's the one."

"... Seriously?"

"Yup."

" ...Thank you, mummy."

I may have the nicest mom ever.

Well today was going great until I received a message from a buyer from a pokemon leaf green I sold them:

"We received this package today ripped with the contents missing. How would you like to handle this?"

I'm really pissed now any know how I should go about this? I've never had this kind of issue on ebay or with usps until now.....though I should've spent a little more effort on a proper packaging but I didn't have the issue with the yugioh I had sold and shipped in a normal letter envelope...I guess if I ever do ship anything again I'll spend a little more effort on it, but I'm almost certain I would've had the same issue...

I think it's great that you're owning up to how you mailed it. That said, NO NO NO, you can not mail games in standard mailing envelopes. Cart damage possibilities aside, the weight of the cart hitting flimsy paper numerous times, rolling through mailbags and sorting machines, it quickly wears through and undoubtedly falls out. Having good luck once or 100 times isn't an excuse to ship in that fashion. You're only option is to apologize, issue a refund, and send a polite note explaining you are new to selling and didn't realize it was a poor packaging method. Hopefully with a nice note and a refund they'll not leave negative feedback.

I hate sellers like you. Passionately. Showing that little regard for the buyer is one thing but I'm betting that you took money for shipping, too. You took their damn shipping money and kept it. How do you go about this? You refund every single penny you took from them.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah the cheapest you should ever go when mailing games is probably your standard bubble mailer. They run around 50 cents at your average store or you can buy them in bulk pretty cheaply online.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/380600007007?ss ... 1439.l2649

You can also try packaging your own in with cardboard, bubble wrap and wrapping paper. However that method is pretty time consuming and in my opinion isn't worth the pennies you save.

Don't ever cheap out on packaging you may save some cash on shipping but it will always bite you in the ass in the long run.

What the heck are you talking about? I didn't mean to show little regard but I sent the item to them and everything(and that emoticon I used was the only one that fit how mad I was that it didn't arrive at their location safely). Plus how in the world can I of taken the money yet? Ebay has a hold on it like the past time I sold a game. I just didn't give it much thought since I don't usually mail anything....I hate people like you passionately because you don't understand and assume(and we all know what happens when you assume).

Yeah I figured that might be the response after I posted it, but I'm really hoping maybe if I contact usps they'll be able to help me find where it ended up. I really needed the money for the game

That structure was not built to be stood on. And even after asking him not stand on it, Andypants (or in this case Andyshorts) could not be told no.

He also puts the mustard on his bratwurst and THEN puts on the kraut. He's insane.

Pretty sure he's a kid who is new to selling Flake. Cut him some slack.

Smile: Karaoke with friends last night.

You know that one guy who says "I don't want to sing. No. I'm not going to. I said I'm not going to. I don't like it! Listen, I'm not going to do it! Because I don't want to! Leave me alone, I don't want to!"...and then goes on stage and kills it? My friend Bruce did that, and he was phenomenal.

I wasn't too shabby at singing Wild Rover (who would have thought a karaoke player would have that?) but Bruce had people tearing up with laughter.

Exactly, plus I usually don't sell stuff, but I figured since I don't play that leaf green that much it was best to sell it. Now i know for next time though I'm going to be mad if sups really did lose it or something...

Stop while you are ahead.

Let me drop some science.

Whenever you sell, online or in person, you are building or destroying your reputation. Doing one is a lot easier than the other.

When I'm mailing a game to a friend only for funsies, I use a bubble mailer. But if I sold a game to a customer who would leave feedback/could become a repeat customer/would recommend me/etc., I would ship the game in a box, nestled in styrofoam, complete with invoice and a thank you letter.

It should be like opening a present, because to the customer, they are opening something special.

Not saying to put a bow on the box, but make it look professional. Sending something in an envelope is just bad idea jeans.

Undersell, over deliver.
