After about 10 hours of Persona 3, the high school sim aspects are wearing really thin on me. It's unique alright, but I don't know if I can make it through 80 more hours of it. Seems like people's average game time is around 90-100 hours or so.
Thing is, I still like the dungeon crawling, battle system and presentation of the game. I'm considering just playing the addendum The Answer instead since it's supposed to be around a 30 hour adventure. Would this be a completely bad idea?

Re: Persona 3 FES: Skip The Journey to play The Answer?
Hi there,
I think it's no bad idea. The Answer relies heavily on dungeon crawling, so it could really appeal to you if you did not like the sim aspects of the game. They are completely gone. I only played a few hours, but I think that story-wise, things do not get messed up so badly. You will understand what's going on, and won't ruin yourself the story of the main quest.
The main quest is really lengthy. I am an experienced rpg fan and I did not waste my time with any sidequests, and it took me nevertheless 80 hours to beat it. I really liked the game, and especially the sim aspects, but the last 20-30 hours were quite tedious, as they were filled with ridiculous amounts of dungeon crawling. And 80 hours are simply too long, no matter how good the game is.
So if you even don't like the sim aspects, don't force yourself 80 hours through it.
But be aware that The Answer starts in the hardest difficulty, and I found it to be quite tough so far.

You make some really good points in those threads. Yeah, P3 seems like it's just one of the hyped up cult games that it's fanbase will defend to no end. I don't think it's completely terrible, but man you would of thought it was the next level of RPGs the way people rave about it.Mozgus wrote:Where were you when I needed you?Flak Beard wrote:After about 10 hours of Persona 3, the high school sim aspects are wearing really thin on me. Re: Persona 3 FES: Skip The Journey to play The Answer?
For a person that likes games like Dragon Quest playing through the whole game is must. For a part time gamer maybe the answer is what your looking for. You'll be missing out on a great story and gameplay experience though. Better yet, maybe you should skip to P4 and avoid the whole game....just kidding. The persona and Yakuza series is a breath of fresh air in a stale JRPG market. Both games are different and thats what I like about them. I've played all the recent JRPGs such as Infinite Undiscovery and such and there all cookie cutter crap. If you like JRPGs you might like this series, but be warned its very very different and you might not understand it.

Better BETTER yet, skip to a good RPG that doesn't get enough love, like Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana, Tales of Eternia, Terranigma, or Valkyrie Profile.corn619 wrote:For a person that likes games like Dragon Quest playing through the whole game is must. What people don't understand scares them. By the way the first Valkyrie Profile sucks when compared to part 2. Talk about a overrated bore fest. Just because its rare don't make it good. And don't get me started on Legend of Mana that was a jumbled mess that only helped destroy the great Mana series.Mozgus wrote:Better BETTER yet, skip to a good RPG that doesn't get enough love, like Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana, Tales of Eternia, Terranigma, or Valkyrie Profile.corn619 wrote:For a person that likes games like Dragon Quest playing through the whole game is must.
