The people that do the "No Music" music videos need to do Drunk In Love. That video is the best worst thing ever.
Four minutes of hair whipping, awful rhyming, and Beyonce doing the mashed potato. Seriously, she does the mashed potato and for some reason they autotuned the word surfboard a lot.

I love the song "Drunk In Love." I've only seen the video once. But the song is great.

And the reason I love you is that we can only agree to a few thins, but we really love those things. Drunk in Love is not one of those things.noiseredux wrote:I love the song "Drunk In Love." I've only seen the video once. But the song is great.
Drunk in love is even more annoying than that ego song.
But I also have a friend who used to be a stripper and her favorite game is Pole Position, and I made a joke about it, so my taste in things is questionable.
That said, I do have a friend who used to be a stripper, and she does love pole Position (most racing games for that) so I do have that. Plus my wife doesn't care that I hang around with an ex-stripper.

^ Man, I love that slow-burn indie sound it's got. Been loving Jungle (the group as opposed to the genre) for a while now, but wonder if they've mis-stepped with their latest Busy Earnin' - but The Heat is hot!

Re: Hip Hop/Rap Fanatics Unite!
@Luke: I listened to Reasonable Doubt this morning. I still contend it's a fantastic record (though I think "Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls make ya shit ya drawers" is maybe the most embarrassingly awful line on any J album) and am curious if you've really heard American Gangster from start to finish. In a lot of ways I think of AG as RD Part 2. It's very much the same sort of album-length study of the American dream. It also shows Hov in love w/ language - IE: the ignorance of "Ignorant Shit," or the drug/love metaphors in "I Know" have the same sort of lyrical ambition to them that I find in stuff like "22 Twos."
Anyway, I'd recommend any Jay-Z fan listen to Reasonable Doubt and American Gangster back-to-back, as it's a pretty cool exercise in comparing/contrasting a similar concept through the context of a decade difference in experience.

Re: Hip Hop/Rap Fanatics Unite!

On one hand, I'm thrilled. On the other, I'm let down.
Illmatic is one of the absolute best 90's hip hop albums. Hands down. It's rare that an album makes you feel like "damn, this is too short."
The 20th anniversary edition should have been even bigger than it is. The bonus disc is only 10 tracks. Several of the remixes have already appeared on the From Illmatic To Stillmatic EP and the 10th anniversary bonus EP. So die-hards have em. The freestyle included is amazing. The inclusion of "I'm a Villain" from his 91 demo is awesome... but where's the rest of the demo tape??? Where's "One on One" from the Street Fighter soundtrack? Where's "Live at the BBQ" and "Back to the Grill"? This reissue could have been a sprawling 3-disc affair that really showcased the full legacy of this album.
Maybe for the 30th anniversary...
