If emulation and VC had anything to do with prices then Earthbound wouldn't command the price it does.RCBH928 wrote:Any one noticed a spike in retro-games prices? Its not rare to find NGC games for $30-40, yet the consoles itself is in the $30-40 price range. This does not make sense because games can be emulated, pirated, downloaded from a digital service, or simple gets an HD release like WindWaker which in theory should decrease demand for older games and hence decrease their prices.

GameFAQs is a weird site.
There are some retro systems that are completely absent from their database, yet every single cell phone game in existence seems to be listed. If you search for a really general term (like "golf" for instance) you have to wade through buttloads of mobile/Android/iOS shovelware results.

I think the developers of those cell phone games make sure to submit listings for all their games.BoneSnapDeez wrote:GameFAQs is a weird site.

Yup, it's free advertising for games that are currently on the market for the developers. Joe Bob's Classic Game Emporium isn't likely to build much excitement to sell that one Vectrex (or whatever) that they have sitting in their shop so a return on effort is minimal. A lesser known and less common system will thus generally require a dedicated fan who wants to put forth the effort. The maker of Snappy Turds 2 - Electric Swirling Poo might sell a few 100 copies or more based on the exposure since it's easily available for anyone on the market right now.BoringSupreez wrote:I think the developers of those cell phone games make sure to submit listings for all their games.BoneSnapDeez wrote:GameFAQs is a weird site.

How is it seriously that easy to just publish a app/game?

My PS3 is broken (overheated) and i got 3 choices: reballing, new motherboard, or new PS3. I decided to go with new motherboard since will be almost the same price as the reballing.
But now i don't know if i can thrust how reliable are this consoles... i have a 10 year old ps2 and the board still works fine.
Maybe i just have bad luck... im pretty sure is that.

Well, using logic it should. More supply means lower prices. Either that or its a game craze happening right now where games are extremely over-valued because its "cool" to be the collector and play older games. I won't be surprised as there are people who make a living just by reviewing older games on youtube.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:If emulation and VC had anything to do with prices then Earthbound wouldn't command the price it does.RCBH928 wrote:Any one noticed a spike in retro-games prices? Don't scare me, I just got a used PS3. I am most likely worried about the HDD since those are known to fail.Damm64 wrote:My PS3 is broken (overheated) and i got 3 choices: reballing, new motherboard, or new PS3. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I kinda want to get a focus for my collecting again. I'm torn between trying to complete a system or a series. If I go for system, I'm 3 games away on Virtual Boy, plus there's always other smaller systems like 32x, Jaguar, etc to go for. If I go for a series, I'm leaning heavily towards either Final Fantasy (numbered series only, focusing first on 1 iteration of each game, maybe to expand later) or Tales Of. I have FF on the NES; 2&3 on the SNES; 7 on the PS1 (curiously, no 8 or 9); and X on the PS2... as well as Mystic Quest, Crystal Chronicles, Origins, Anthology, and Chronicles. So a decent hunk of the FFs. I have zero Tales games, but I feel as though those aren't quite as sought after in the US so won't be as expensive to acquire.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

I didn't realize that Hudson had released a bunch of compilations in Japan... Too bad we didn't see these in the States...
