new Sonic X-Treme video

Post by equalsign »

Caught on Siliconera, this is supposedly a new video of that long lost Saturn game, Sonic X-Treme. It looks pretty real to me.

Ive never ever seen this before. I still think this game would have sucked if it looked like this, the fisheye look is such a turnoff.
those graphics are still really impressive even for such an early design.

Very pretty. It would still make an excellent special stage for a new Sonic game.

Wow! I've always harbored a fascination for Sonic X-Treme, and I've never seen that particular video before. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Seen vids of other levels before but this is the most interesting by far.

For some reason it reminds of a 90s PC visualizer/screen saver!

cool vid.
Again reminded of Sega's arogance.
I think everything would have turned different had they released this.

I really love some of Sega's tech and idea demos. It shows that their dev teams at the time were really looking at innovative stuff for games. This is likely quite different from the modern Sega we all know and... regard with ambivalence.

As that, sure; as a full game? Not so much. I'm actually glad it got cancelled, as judging by those videos the core gameplay wasn't exactly compelling.

I first heard of X-Treme in the UK's official Dreamcast Magazine as a boxout aside. The editor had played/seen it at a trade show a few years before and declared it to be "awful".
