Yes I beat it on normal difficulty and felt pretty accomplished too. Just talking about it makes me want to replay it right now though. I was not prepared for how awesome that game was going to be.

Ditto. I'm also on normal mode. I doubt my nerves could handle this one on hard.

Really? Is it worse than the first game? I know a lot of people don't like this series, but I kind of enjoyed the first one and have heard that they only get better as they go on. I'd be interested to hear your take on that.

It's one of the worst in the series. Maybe the worst (VII also kills me with its insane length).

Basically it's a grindtastic game with tons of cheap enemies with instant death spells and the like.

I "kind of enjoyed" the first game too. I view it the same way I view something like Dragon Slayer and Hydlide. Good for what it is and decent considering the era it was developed.

The series starts to get really good with part three. That game kicks ass.

Just killed the 9th Colossus last night on Shadow of the Colossus.

Man...are you suppose to feel bad for killing these things? It just doesn't feel....right. I mean, when you first talk to Dormin in the beginning you just know he is an evil entity with bad intentions. But I was thinking Ok they are big, bad giants that need to be destroyed. I started to doubt this though after the 6th Colossus (the one with the epic beard). It just feels more like these Colossus' are protectors of the land instead of destroyers.

I guess I'll find out soon.

It has begun— The 16th colossus awaits you.
Does the final colossus remind anyone else of Fantasia? I had a really similar feeling to watching that movie as a kid when I first fought the last colossus in SoCT.

Which would you recommend as the best version to play of it? The NES, SNES, or GBC version that is?

If you're starting to feel bad, you're starting to see the big picture. The end of the game will make everything clear, and it's quite the twist. Especially if you've played Ico before this.

GBC. It's portable; it's in English; it has a very handy quick save function; and it has post-game "bonus" dungeons that are incredibly difficult. (The final boss in the game is really, really tough, but he is not as tough as even common enemies in the bonus dungeons.) I love that game and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Welcome to the fold brother. I have enjoyed watching your commentary on the game over time, complaining about controls and I got the overall feel that you just weren't, "feeling it." You are starting to get sucked into the implications set by the game, which is one of the big reasons the game is so well loved. It doesn't tell you anything and yet you form these conclusions on your own. You start to get a sense of the overall atmosphere of the situation and its gravity starts to settle in.

I am glad you are starting to enjoy it though!
