Was it 2009, when Resident Evil 5 came out? In the early to mid 2000s, they were still giving us cool stuff like the Mega Man and MMX collections, the Onimusha series, the first Dead Rising, the classics collections, and trying to revamp Resident Evil with RE4. Hell, Mega Man 9 was 2008! Re: More bad news for Capcom
Well, in July of 2011, Capcom announced that MML3 was cancelled, so that might be a good starting point.
EDIT: Maybe even earlier, if you were disappointed in RE5, which was released in 2009.

The declining quality of their IPs since the early 2000s I'd say. All the way up to their current DLC-on-disk shenanigans, where they have all the content on the actual disc and then make you pay to unlock it.
I think the straw that broke the camel's back for me was SFxT, there were a good 12 extra characters or so on disc, made intentionally unavailable and they weren't even available to PURCHASE the unlock for until like 6 months later. What a freakin' debacle, considering the 2 characters I wanted to play Christie/Elena were both in that lot.
Their lone gem in the rough from 2009-now was vanilla SF4, which helped get fighters back on the mainstream map. But along came that DLC and pay-for-upgrade versions to drag the enthusiasm for that down into the mud also.
They also forced Remember Me, which was hardly finished or polished and released it haphazardly and sloppily. Which made me really mad to see another title with potential "rushed" out the door from a cancelled and unfinished state to the shelves in the name of cash grabbing.
That I think is a good place to start for my dislike of Capcom.

I am a retro gamer today because of what Capcom has been doing for the last five years.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: More bad news for Capcom
Probably my shitiest experience with capcom in the last few years would have to be Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City that was a sloppy turd of a game when it came out
. Even if it weren't for the game breaking bugs which I ran into dozens of times the story took a huge crap on the RE universe and the ending was just plain pathetic.

I actually didn't mind that one, but I wasn't going into it expecting a Resident Evil game per se either - I played it as a team-based shooter inside the RE universe, and for that, I don't think it failed.Fragems wrote:Probably my shitiest experience with capcom in the last few years would have to be Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City that was a sloppy turd of a game when it came out. Re: More bad news for Capcom
For me it was MvsC3. I hadn't looked forward to a game that much in awhile, but didn't pull the trigger right away. I played it at a friend's house and thought "This is it?". It was a BS bare bones release that still pisses me off to this day. MvsC2 takes a dump all over that game so why buy the new one?
Also, I was really hyped for RE6 after seeing the trailers. When I played the demo (upon hearing the game wasn't so hot) I couldn't and still can't believe how bad it was.
Of course I didn't want to admit things were going in the toilet around the time of RE5 when a developer said they wanted to "adapt with the times" with the new RE installments............

I hope this serves as a wake up call for Capcom. SquareEnix seems to have learned from its mistakes, so hopefully Capcom can do the same before it's too late.

I picked it up early on the PC which was undoubtedly the worst versionRetrogamer0001 wrote: I actually didn't mind that one, but I wasn't going into it expecting a Resident Evil game per se either - I played it as a team-based shooter inside the RE universe, and for that, I don't think it failed.
Worst bugs involved one of the fights with nemesis. Ended up having to play that area alone around 10+ times before I was able to move on. These are some of the bugs I encountered in that area alone.
1. Random Crash to Desktop
2. No Sound
3. Never Ending Enemy Spawns
4. Enemies falling through the map preventing the exit from opening.
5. Invincible Nemesis(You never kill him but you couldn't damage him to the point necessary to progress)
6. Exit door either failing to open or opening but having an invisible wall preventing players from actually going through it
Also lost my saves half way through the campaign the first time I played it due to issues between Steam and Windows Live.

Re: More bad news for Capcom
I believe it was the time Bionic Commando and RE5 came out.
SF4 was their last big release that was good. Their smaller teams tried to keep the spark alive on handhelds, but then they made Keiji Inafune leave.
At least their adventure game team is still producing quality titles (Ghost Trick, and the latest Phoenix Wright game). If those start being crap, they might as well file for bankruptcy for all I care. At least that way, maybe Inafune can buy off the Megaman rights on the auction.
