So I'm kinda getting the feel that there's a "for us, by us" kind of mentality in how folks look at resellers. If you're into it with at least a modicum of interest in games beyond seeing them as product to be moved, then it seems most folks don't have much of a problem with it. I guess we don't mind the drug dealers that sell to us as long as they're getting high on their own supply, lol.

To be sure, I can totally understand where having these horror stories or witnessing people being dickheads about selling can sour one on the whole lot. I would be ready to crack someone's dome if I had to deal with some of the stuff like pvt_awol wrote about. And yeah, if you come on here pulling some shit like Hobie described (HAY GUISE GREAT DEAL, GOT EARTHBOUND FOR $20, I'M SELLING FOR $500), then you can go eat a big fat dick sandwich. But I would think most of us here aren't willing to put up with that kind of crap, so their great find isn't going to earn them anything here. Basically, just don't be an asshole—which is a great rule for life in general.

I think so far, I'm pretty much in agreement with dr. dsh's ideas on the whole thing. He put it pretty well.

Yeah, my opinions are similar to that of Dave or Hobie. All of us with a BST thread have sold or re-sold games.

My outlook when I resell is to recoup some of the cost of the hobby while also putting games in the hands of other collectors under the market price. I think in that scenario, it is a win win, as I make a little cash back and they get a good deal.

The ones who are annoying and I just generally ignore, are the ones who will buy cheap games from here just to flip or those who list prices above the ebay market price.

Capitalism.

Why it works, yet pisses off people is nuts.

Buy what you want or shut up. If X wants to sell game Y whether he cares about gaming or not shouldn't amount to two beans.

I need to get my, "Off-Topic Cap," on and a bag of popcorn...cause this could be good. 8)

For me, I am annoyed that people do it, because I want people to have those games to enjoy and it annoys me when it happens in retro game stores. It is just mean. Do I really care in the end? No, not really, but it does kind of suck.

The fact that you are free to type out comments on a video game website instead of being out in the fields right now harvesting food for your family to eat while your sig other is at home rocking out shirts on the loom is a good indicator capitalism works.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

In 2009 I put a mint condition complete boxed copy of Chrono Trigger up on eBay starting at $0.01. In the end the market dictated that I sold the game for $200 to some chap in Australia. That price was not set by me, but by the bidders and what they were willing to pay. Am I the bad guy here?

Most people here are reasonable enough to conclude that most of us fall somewhere along the reseller spectrum, whether it's selling duplicates or parting out unwanted items.

With that said, I find that reseller hate is usually: "I can't be bothered to scan ebay/Craigslist/flea markets, but the people should sell me games at whatever price I feel is reasonable. arrghlebaaaarrgglllle asdjjfkadksfhjaflsdf"

Text book example of why I don't get the hatred on re-sellers. The only thing you did was define the size of the market you were willing to do business with. Then 6 billion people got together and gave it a price. What were you supposed to do? Thank the guy for his generosity, give him a $120 refund and then mail him his game?
