Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Here's a new one: Most people who write about games and have a Twitter account spend more time engaging in circle-jerks than actually saying anything interesting. Like, I have had to unfollow people because they were the biggest source of negativity I was exposed daily.
Some are extremely nice though and you can learn a lot about them, but geez.

Fixing? I LOVE fixing!!TSTR wrote:ftfy bbyGeneral_Norris wrote:Here's a new one: Most people who write about games and have a Twitter social media account spend more time engaging in circle-jerks than actually saying anything interesting.
EDIT: Eh, why not, I'll just throw them all in here. The only thing I like more than fixing is sweeping generalizations!
Final Fantasy IX is the best one

So would you rather play... Cheetahmen 2 over Goldeneye then?catnip wrote:Speaking of shooters, I think Goldeneye (N64) is one of my all-time least-favorite games.

I totally dominated this game and the controls didnt bother me, probably one of the few games i could "speed run".graffix_13 wrote:I am playing through Shadows of the Colossus now for the first time (on PS2) and while I am having fun and I think the game is good, I do feel the game is a bit overrated.
The controls just....well, "suck" is probably too strong of a word but it's close. The framerate is bad on the boss fights, but I don't let this bother me too much considering I am playing it on an older system.
I just beat the 5th Colossus last night, so maybe my opinion will change after I defeat them all. But unless the controls suddenly get 10x better, I don't see that happening.

I understand the controls argument, but I always felt that they are clunky intentionally, as a human struggling to destroy a colossus are not perfect. The horse moves like a real horse and doesn't turn on a dime. That can be offputting for people and I understand. I can not argue about it. For me, It was never an issue and it was part of the mechanics of the game.Violent By Design wrote:What's wrong with the controls?graffix_13 wrote:I am playing through Shadows of the Colossus now for the first time (on PS2) and while I am having fun and I think the game is good, I do feel the game is a bit overrated.

What makes the game good or considered classic is just the atmosphere of the environment and the world they crafted. It invokes curiosity. Also, the small details of the colossi and their mannerisms infers a lot of things that you can easily miss. I am not saying it is the best game of all time, but the game invoked emotions from me I was not expecting, which is why I love the game.

Again...what's wrong with the controls?
Mechanics wise the game is pretty bare bone, I don't understand how the game has bad controls. They're responsive, and they actually give your character a lot more jumping ability than he needs for the majority of leaps that you need in the game. Climbing is barely any more different from walking/running.
So...what exactly is the problem with the controls?
