Changing An SNES Game Battery

Just posted a guide I found:

I haven't tried this myself yet, so I was wondering if anybody here has done it and could see if the guide is missing anything.

screw solder, do it the bumpkin way and just rip out the old battery and tape in a new one! Did it on two of my snes games with bad batteries and they work great, lol.

Not very good though. Use this guide or something like it if you can, as it make sit much easier to replace the battery later on...

oh, and you may want to include something about including a battery holder...This place has them. I have seen methods which include this and make replacing the battery very easy in the future

I mean, with the cheapass gamer instructions, they already have you soldering, so you may as well go for one of these if the size of the cart permits it...Someone else on this site may know what I am talking about.

I just wish I knew why gameboy cart batteries never work when I replace them. I used the same battery model. I never have trouble with NES or SNES carts after the operation. But the saves in the gameboy carts just never hold.

Thats because they most likely use a different battery. Did you replace it with the same type battery as the one that was originally in the gameboy game? I If you don't know, I can open up some of mine and see what they have.

I don't know what to tell you, it should work if it's the same model :/
I think what he means is did you use something that looks identical, or is the actual model nintendo uses. If it is the same, it should work :/ I'll have to try it out sometime

well kindof. The way he wrote it made it seem as if he meant he used the same model as SNES batteries. No need to get smart-aleky on me, imo. If you never got it to work, you may have fried the ram or somehow ruined the connectors. How exactly did you go around replacing the GB batteries?
