I love Maze Madness and since it's not vga, I downloaded the DCRES version to go with the OG disc. All of tuxthewise's releases work via vga and many load better than the OG discs.noiseredux wrote:got home late-ish last night, and spent some time w/ the Dreamcab... Puyo Fever, Tennis 2K2, Pac-Man and Galaga.
Found out Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness doesn't support VGA, and neither a boot-disc nor pulling the AV cord out did the trick. Lame.

Pretty impressive noise and neat looking. I have games scattered about, underneath the bed and god knows where else. Now my Grandia 2 has gone MIA no one but me to blame though.
Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
did a little work today...

Affixed the surge protector to the back of the cab. Now all I need to do is reach behind and flip the surge protector on and the DC, speakers and monitor all turn on. Has a nice unified feel to it.

Drilled some holes so that the Agetec cables run right through the front of the monitor stand. Really, I took this pic to show off that I got a new drillbit that's the right size for DC controller cables. And also so I could be all, "I woodwork!" with you guys.

Got some brackets to attach the monitor stand (and control panel, not shown) permanently in place. I left a little clearance between the two in case I need to swap out arcade sticks (or perhaps keyboards, steering wheels, etc).
All in all, these are minor things, but it feels good to make some progress. The Dreamcab is 100% functional, but there's still lots of little things I'd like to get done before I feel like it's a completed project:
-Drill holes in the back of the monitor stand for the DC power cable and VGA cable so that it looks a lot neater. Right now they're coming out of an opening in the side of it, which is where I reach in to swap game discs.
-Paint the monitor stand. Right now it's just primed. And then slap on the cool Dreamcast logo decal I got - after the monitor stand is painted. Possibly do some orange trim as well.
-Close off the sides underneath the 'desk' portion... totally cosmetic but I think it'll look better that way. Ideally, with a cabinet that I can open for storage of extra accessories.
-Eventually replace the monitor. I go back and forth on what I really want though. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a 22" LCD TV of some sort, because I can get a stand to easily TATE it, and a TV will give me the option of switching between VGA and composite/SVideo for stubborn games.
Also, another thing I had thought of... y'know those things that come with a lot of PCB's? They're like inserts that you'd slide into a cab that show you what the buttons do and all? What are the dimensions on those? I assume you can print repros out there? Might be kind of cool to some integrate something like that for some of my more overly played titles (Third Strike, Garou, etc). Just an idea. Not sure if I'm sold on it yet, as I'm also a fan of keeping things very simple and minimal in appearance.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
played a bunch of OG Street Fighter III tonight. Without the expanded roster, I'm left with Ken to mess with. Challenging. But a lot of fun. Gill is a total dick. If I only I didn't have to beat him twice the second time...

Noise, I love all the updates! I think your collection and the DreamCab are looking pretty awesome. I just got back this evening, and I might fire up some Dreamcast -- either some PSO, or Gauntlet Legends.

IDK if you noticed, but Gill can only do that cheap resurrection shit if he has a super stock. So no super, no 2nd health bar.
Plus, if you're close enough and can hit him, you can stop his health from refilling completely.

I had no idea on that Donnie. I noticed you can trip a lot super-cheap though. But that 2nd health bar fucks me up.

Yeah, there are a few tricks that work on him.
I actually didn't catch onto it myself until a couple months ago.
It's weird; I have problems with him when I use Ken/Ryu/Akuma, but slow, powerhouse characters like Alex & Q, I just pick him apart.
