it's a brilliant game, but not quite as brilliant as Alien Soldier, imo.

I've always been tempted to buy a boxed copy, but I already have it included in my Sega Classics Collection cartridge. Nice box tho, but is the box worth the £10+p&p I'd have to pay for it here in the UK? not sure.

maybe one day :)

I don't like Alien Soldier as much as Gunstar Heroes, at least not what I've played of AS emulated. AS is not as accessible, and I don't have the time or inclination to be a hardcore gamer anymore. I definitely prefer GH.

You don't need to have full heath just to pull off the dash. You do however, need to have full health to have the dash do damage, though.
The other thing is the lack of proper levels, you just blaze through them in like 30 seconds every time and then there's a boss that you have to get health from and use the teleport move on again.
That's the point. The game is all about the bosses, the only reason why there's stages is, like you said to regain health.

I do agree with you about the lack of a two player mode. Would've really kicked ass.

Well, your point is pointless! :D As GSZX1337, the point of the game is to fight the bosses, not to get wrapped up in the journey that leads to them.

I guess its a bit like Shadow of the Colossus, where the only point of the game is to fight each of the Colossi. Sure, there's a big map with nice scenery but the map is only used to travel from one Colossus (boss) to the next.

Alien Soldier is brilliant, as long as you know what to expect. Actually, I was wrong to even compare it to Gunstar...I shouldn't have. Two totally different games.
