should be easy enough to emulate on the Dreamcab... how's the scoring in this one? I don't think I've found a 16-bit shmup that has had captivating enough scoring to hold my interest. Most shmups I can think of from that time seem to focus more on survival-play.

This is precisely why I prefer shmups from that era.

Anyway, I'll be giving this a go later this week.

well preference is preference, of course. But when it's a High SCORE competition, I can't help but be concerned with the SCORE aspect of the game.

Minor improvement.
This is going to be one of those games where I can only bear to play a couple of credits per session. I actually love the game, the presentation, the graphics, sound, gameplay - but I hate the checkpoints with a vengeance.

I'm glad to see a good mix of survival and scores on this years SOTM calendar. I hear this game is notorious for the checkpoints it uses. Plus, Game Sack had this game on one of their recent videos -- the ability to use enemy weapons isn't a mechanic that many shmups have.

Any tips... So far I'm terrible.

Also... What's the default number of ships? I am playing emulated on my oxbox and it's starting me with 5... Just seems like a lot.

Default is 5 ships. No option to change it either. Maybe with how difficult it is, it's a good thing  I'll be starting this tomorrow.

Five hasn't gotten me very far yet! I can see this is gonna be a game I will get frustrated with quickly. Made five or six runs and had to put the sticks down and walk away. Will come back to it later tonight and try again.
