backing up computer data
Re: backing up computer data
I have a lot of music and data CDRs from 99, 2000 and they still work fine I just tested them a couple mins ago. Though this worries me because I was under the impression thay they last a long time. That means I have to rebackup my Saturn, and Dreamcast games every 3yrs? That makes backing them up more trouble than its worth. I found a report that says durability depends on brand and recording quality. Kodak saying there infoguard CDRs can last up to 200yrs. TDK say there CDRs last 100yrs using accelerated age testing. Here's the link if your interested http://www.melbpc.org.au/pcupdate/2106/ ... icle14.htm Anyways its looks like he or she wants to have a backup just in case and no method is 100% fullproof. CDRs and DVDRs are good, cheap storage and very dependable if you make a few copies with good product and equip.
Re: backing up computer data
thanx a lot on the great tips
I think ill mix cd-r's and memory sticks, and just re-back-up every couple years
what's a power cycle btw, and why does flash disks and hard-drives need them?
given some said that cd-r's will last like 5 years, that means its no use to have backward compatibility specially for playstation which has been there since 94, cause some games might have 13 years out there , for example final fantasy 7 is out for 11 years now
