Problem with Gamecube game on Wii

Post by zarathstra »

Hey guys, I don't know if you guys can help me, but I've been having some trouble with X-Men: Legends II on my new Wii. The manual says to double tap Y to activate flight, but I can never seem to pull it off. Do you think it could be my controller? I can't afford a used Wavebird, so I ended up buying a 3rd party controller, the Phantiq Shockwave. It seems sturdy, and the controls all work fine, except for this one thing. Could it be that the button isn't responding enough to register as a double tap? If it is, I guess I'll have to get a wired controller or just save up for the WB.

It probably is the controller. I never trust 3rd party controllers in the first place since they never feel quite right.

Glad you got a good controller! Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Used wavebirds were going for $40 or $50 when Brawl was released, but now they aren't going for nearly that much. Glad you could get a one at a reasonable rate. I bought two new Wavebirds years ago, opened one, and stuffed away the other one. Ended up selling it on eBay for $100 when Brawl came out. Does that make me evil?

Evil? No

Smart? Yes!

I got the Wavebird for 30 dollars shipped. I figured that was a pretty good deal, especially since neither of my local used games stores had any.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Crap, looks like it wasn't the controller, since I couldn't manage it with the Wavebird either. Maybe its just a conflict with the Wii compatibility.

Sorry to hear; keep us posted, it's always good to know what works and what doesn't.

Have you tried activating flight on a GameCube?

Unfortunately I don't own a Gamecube. If I remember, I can probably stop by the local used game store and use one of theirs.

When I was playing Geist on Gamecube recently, my third party controller, which looks identicle to the official one, absolutely would not cooperate for this analog stick based puzzle. I tried 20 times. Then I plugged in a very old and used official pad, and beat it in 1 try.

Sometimes even when a controller seems to be physically perfect, there can be an underlying flaw.
