Exhuminator wrote:I think the Legends version of Skies Of Arcadia is worth getting. Reasons why:
+Moonfish side quest.
+Piastol's side story and her numerous boss fights.
+A few new NPCs to converse with.
+Eight new pirate bounties to hunt down.
+24 extra discoveries to uncover.
+A new ultimate weapon.
+An additional ship battle.
+A chance to fight against a new (secret) tough boss.
+The hilarious battle with these creeps.
+Better texturing and light sources.
+Encounter rate is toned down.
Those reasons are why I think the Legends version is worth getting over the vanilla Dreamcast one. I know some people think the GameCube version's music is messed up, but it really isn't a big deal whatsoever. No matter what version you get though, Skies Of Arcadia is an enchanting JRPG and definitely worth playing.
I might have to get it just for the hilarious battle and the encounter rate since I was already wanting the game as is. Not to mention I keep hearing about or seeing that game in every gamecube list I look at on various sites...just like a lot of other games on my other wish lists. I think that is also why on the NES that I picked up LoLo(which is amazing). And I already knew i was probably going to have to pick up the collection discs for certain games before some people even mentioned them. But I also have to pick up Battle Network Transmission just for the reason that it's a Battle Network game(next to the opposite sides of certain gba ones) that I never played or owned. I think I might even have get a gamecube just so I can have the gameboy player for many other reasons of having some games that link to the gc versions.

Add starfox adventures to my collection. Decided while i was out and saw it for like 18 I would try to get it...especially since it seems to be CIB from what I see.

I think it's funny that the collection in the opening post of the yet-latest GameCube Appreciation Thread contains literally 90% movie / cartoon tie-in games. Saying that one has them because of the sentimental connection to the movie / cartoon isn't actually a defense; it's the entire purpose of the game's existence, and the source of the stereotype. People will by the game based on the strength of the IP and not the strength of the game.
Be that as it may, I've actually softened my 'no cash-in' rule over the past couple of months. I really like the Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings game on Wii, for example. And can I deny myself the guilty pleasure of Goldeneye on N64 _or_ Wii- no.
To the purpose of the thread, I'll say that I'm glad I mostly finished my GC library a couple years ago. I would like to pick up a spare mint system at some point, plus a second GB Player. A second component cable maybe, too (or a d-term one and a framemeister).
My GC games total stands at around 40, with the latest incoming game a flip flop on Star Fox Assault (hate it; ebay... second thoughts, buy it on ebay for $10 more than the year before....). The only game I'm really expecting to add is a sealed copy of a one or two Japanese GC releases for their alternative cover art.
Well it's not the sentimental value, but the fact they were super cheap(12.50 for the 9 from gamestop). Technically tak wasn't a cartoon but they made a show for it later(and I had played it long before it ever received a show). But yeah you're right my collection isn't anything to look at, but then again I've not had the chance to look around more for decent things to add for a decent price. Most of the games I want are 20-30 a pop, with a rare few being under 20 so it takes some time to find it decently. Especially since I missed out on SMS for what would've been 23.54...

My GC library is non-existent but I'm enjoying this thread. I'd like to buy another GC console, with accessories, and will definitely be adding a lot of these games listed in the future.

Well if you're going to get one you're better off getting it from a retro store or a thrift store if they have it. One's around here have it for $25 and that's with cables and a controller...

I don't know if it's just my area, but I come across these all the time for around $15 or so complete. Sometimes they even have the gameboy attachment on for that price. The hardware for this system has easily taken the least amount of effort for me to aquire.
The games on the other hand, can be devilishly difficult to find at a good price.
Well it seems like the only major thing next to the games, that I have to add to my collection is that gameboy player. Just would be great if people would stop selling it for 47+ so I can use the extra money for more games
