Being somewhat of a thread necromancer myself, I honestly don't see the harm, especially when people can still add new material to a conversation. Threads are never really dead, simply abandoned - it's not like there aren't people who still want to discuss the old topics. Bump em all, I say.

I hope this thread continues to get bumped forever. I like the choice to do it on April Fool's day though.
Honestly (since new people are always coming along), it's either necro-bumps or repeat threads. I can understand the frustration if the title becomes a misleading anachronism, but for most broad topics I'd consider it the better option.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Being somewhat of a thread necromancer myself, I honestly don't see the harm, especially when people can still add new material to a conversation. I don't think we can blame people for bumping old threads, especially since some members very actively discourage people from making new versions of existing topics.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Being somewhat of a thread necromancer myself, I honestly don't see the harm, especially when people can still add new material to a conversation. Re: Stop bumping ancient ******* threads!
But what if this becomes an old thread that gets bumped
Re: Stop bumping ancient ******* threads!
Just thought I should chime in, even though it was only bumped for the neo-holiday. There are a lot of topics I like that I wouldn't even know about, or even forgot, if people didn't highlight them again.
I actually like and encourage necro-bumped threads.
Provided that:
1. The poster is well aware of the last post date (possibly starting with saying so or a sentence of "why the revival")
2. Posts something relevant to the topic (a little subjective at times, but then every opinion is; and I do value honest opinions)
and/or
3. Wants to discuss information offered within the topic
But then, I probably wouldn't be annoyed even without those guidelines unless it was intentional spamming.
I am and will continue to be a forum archeologist from time to time. It's one of the reasons I like this place, there's a wealth of info on an ever-increasing list of classic games. And really, what's a retro site without being allowed to dig them up again?

Happy Day

Re: Stop bumping ancient ******* threads!
I like bumping of old threads instead of creating new threads because it keeps all information on that topic in one thread. Hence the reason why our PS4, XB1, 3DS, and other threads of that ilk continue to grow larger.
To play devils advocate to myself, the threads could get so long that all relevant or helpful information gets lost. I guess it's a catch 22.

Re: Stop bumping ancient ******* threads!
Ive always been under the assumption we should bump old threads instead of making a new one about the same topic.
