Any one version of Flashback better than another?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The closest thing to a sequel is Fade To Black, which I believe was only made for the PS1 and PC.

I have to say the genesis version as well. In my experience the controls are great and as has been pointed out the music fits. And i even have the original Amiga version and yeah the genesis trumps that one too.

Genesis version.

And there's nothing terribly wrong with Shaq-fu. Just an unfortunate license. It is definitely very smooth to play and it looks great.

Oh and you might find this interesting -> http://cyxdown.free.fr/reminiscence/ it enables you to play Flashback on a number of platforms, including DS and PSP!

I've done research, I am going to list the top 3

1. DOS (More Cutscenes, Smooth animation, Controls get some getting used to, Descent Music)
2. Genesis/Mega Drive (Less Cutscenes, Some Slowdown but overall smooth, Best Controls, Better Music)
3. Amiga (Even less cutscenes [ie: no item pick up sequence], Smooth animation, problems with Controls, Annoying load times, Best music and sound)

So I would say get the Dos version, but if you want it on a console, get the Genesis/Mega Drive.

I've played them all, but I have to say that the DOS version and the 3DO version are the best.

the 3DO version had the best cutscenes out of all of them.

Damn, I never realized there were so many versions of this game out there.

I haven't spent a whole of time with the game, but I likes SNES version for the color palette and sound. I actually have the Genesis version stuffed away in a drawer but haven't played it much. It looks fine and does control well.

About the sequel stuff, I would say that, while Fade 2 Black is the real sequel (story wise), Heart of Darkness is a spiritual sequel to both Out of This World and Flashback, gameplay wise. I think Heart of Darkness is sort of unknown so I think I should take an opportunity to promote it to fans of this type of 2d platformer (Prince of Persia, Blackthorne, Out of this World, Flashback, Heart of Darkness and I guess some of the Oddworld games - not that many games like that around I think.
