got some strange Genesis controllers, reliable?

Post by ThunderPrince »

I bought recently.
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-X-16-bit-Controll ... dZViewItem
so far they work just fine and it is a hell of a lot better than the dead controllers Ive had for years. they helped bring my genesis back to life but I was wondering if anyone else ever bought these "2 X 16 bit controller F" things. are they reliable or do they wear out quickly?

*edit*
just thought I would ask, why are the prices for games with the plastic cases higher than without? Ive seen games with the cases go for double or even triple what it costs just to get the game itself. seems silly to spend that much extra when you could just store it somewhere safe.

I've never used those particular controllers. But I've had experience using at least 5 other 3rd party Genesis/Megadrive pads and non of them have been as good as the original Sega manufactured controller.

As for the price of boxed games, well I guess it's just preference. Many people who buy megadrive games want the complete package including manual, and will pay a premium for them.

Personally, I only buy games that are 100% complete (manual and box) and in good to very good condition . I have a megadrive flash cartridge, so for me there is no point in buying unboxed games, because I can simply burn roms to my cart.

Those controllers look like the ones that came with the 3rd model of Sega Genesis. I think they were called the Sega Arcade controllers.

And about the prices... yea, its preference. Some people rather get the entire package for collectivity. I only buy a few games that way, cause really, I tend to buy classic games cause I've been dying to relive times of my childhood, and I could care less about the boxes.

I can understand the mentality behind paying higher prices on boxed and complete games. For systems like the SMS and Gensis, which had a nice hard case, it's great to be able to stack them all on the shelf in their cases. For SNES, with the cardboard boxes, it seems to be less of an issue for most people, aside from those who go for collecting near-mint complete collections.

Myself, since I've been recasing all my carts anyway, I don't care if a game is boxed or not. I do like to have the original manuals and inserts, though, and I will pay more to get those.

I have a controller made by Niko that looks exactly like that. It works fine and I have had no problems with it.
