Usually, from what I've seen, first party titles command a higher price than niche titles. Although a far cry from my Wii collection I used to own I'm happy with the five that I repurchased. The two Galaxy games, New Mario, and the two main Zelda games. I don't have a Wii but I do have a Wii U.
Although this is off topic since we are speaking about games but in terms of hardware I feel that the Classic Controller will retain or increase its value. Many VC games rely on it and for those modded Wiis out there its a useful controller.
Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games?

Most definitely about the first party titles. Especially because I have the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword that came with the music cd and gold remote. It was so worth it begging for that a couple Christmas's ago. Although I'll probably never think of selling that one off, but that is at least uncommon in that bundle form(even if it's not new). But there are some popular titles that are non-first party games that do command a higher price....I think Harvest Moon is one of those that does at least on ebay as far as i know...

Dokapon Kingdom has really soared in price.
The Wii copy is selling used $70+ on ebay.

Amazon only has 1 copy and its "New" for $149, so that doesnt justify its price at all.

There are plenty selling at $40-50 as well, so I wouldn't say it's a $70 game. It took me weeks to sell a dup at $35. One of our members has one up right now for $39 and it's been there a week.
EDIT: 2 weeks and still available

Right, you linked the sold listings, of which (42) of (80) were at or under $50, so 51% under $50, the rest being over, this would suggest it is a $50 game, not $70. Obviously not a big deal, but I don't someone to see a copy at $60 and jump on it thinking it's a "$70+" game based on that post.

Your linking prices from 2-3 months ago, the market changes.mjmjr25 wrote:Right, you linked the sold listings, of which (42) of (80) were at or under $50, so 51% under $50, the rest being over, this would suggest it is a $50 game, not $70. Ebay searches go back 90 days, y'know, for perspective - I simply took your search and added "wii" then sorted by lowest first to get a quick count of where the break was and it was at $50.
Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
I wouldn't be surprised if many titles drop again before certain high quality, low print titles resume a slow and steady climb. I pay more attention to new Wii prices on Amazon than I do eBay and over the last two years, many of the relatively good third party Wii games have crept up from the $14.99-19.99 level to $30-40 due to Amazon selling out stock and merchants like Deal Tavern or Hitgaming uploading another 20 or so liquidation inventory. My suggestion would be nothing groundbreaking or not already said: track down all the Nintendo published games (in whatever condition you collect: sealed, cib mint, cib mangey, etc) now that aren't above their original MSRP. Second priority: track down all the extremely niche and nerdy Japanese games you're after. I'll be the most recent in a long line of people to suggest Opoona to anyone that's ever enjoyed a console RPG of the PS1/PS2 era.

Excellent advice, the first-party and niche titles are always the ones that either retain or increase in value over time. That being said, there always seem to be a few dark horses in every console library, so predictions are shaky at best. I feel we've compiled a fantastic list of Wii games in this thread, but there will most definitely be some games that will surprise a few years down the road that we haven't mentioned/don't know about.k.vlaros wrote: My suggestion would be nothing groundbreaking or not already said: track down all the Nintendo published games (in whatever condition you collect: sealed, cib mint, cib mangey, etc) now that aren't above their original MSRP.
