Mic is mandatory. You play pinball with the controller and direct the infantry with the mic.
If you can't get the microphone from Odama, you may be able to find one for the Mario Party game that included it. It works with the game as well.
Check Gamestop if they're near you and still have GameCube stuff. I recently picked up 3 with the adapters for 25 cents each.

That's if you are lucky enough to spot a gamestop with any kind of gc stock. Which apparently the one I went to was the only one in NC with gc games in a 100 mi radius. Too bad there's not a way to check any further than that :-\ Otherwise it might help him, and me both but that 100 mi restriction(even if we could get it shipped, would be nice)

You can put in other zip codes when searching their system though that would only work if you can get them to ship it. If I get back to where I got them from anytime soon I'll see if they have anymore I can buy.

I'm good with Odama -- as I said upthread I found a good deal on a sealed, boxed copy complete with microphone. Note that this is the cardboard box version with everything, because there's also just the standalone game.

I'm just going to hold on to the hope that when I make the trip out to on of the local flea markets or even go up to another of the stores to return a game(defective) they have some. But I probably really need to try the other gamestops in the area and just see if it's just not coming up online but they do have some games...

I didn't know there was a standalone version. Stores where I lived only ever had the cardboard box version. It was also one of the last GCN games to go out of stock.

Brand new copies of Odama are still well under $20 on Amazon, so very little searching is required for US collectors. I bought one a year ago and inside of the cardboard box was a proper standard GC case. I have my doubts that it was ever actually distributed without the mic. I could check now if I wasn't lazy, but I'm pretty sure the copy I have says 'not for resale' or is missing a barcode on the actual gamecube plastic case. I'd guess it's the same on the above second picture if you could flip that case over.

But ... that "standard" version is what's inside the Odama big box. I don't think it was ever sold by it self new, since the Microphone is required.

To note, I bought mine new microphone included in the big box and there is a barcode on the gamecube case.

Four Sword Adventures is the same way.

To add to my list ... I bought Chaos Field yesterday :D

Good point. The cased game could possibly just be inside the cardboard box, and then sold separately elsewhere. I'll have to check once mine gets here.
