I think we'll get VII at the very least, although it'll probably be Nintendo published.

Nintendo handled the U.S. publishing for DQ VI and IX; and they published Square Enix's Bravely Default as well.

I'm hoping that we see an announcement at E3 or something.

I agree that DQVII is pretty much a definite.

Man, I sure hope we get DQ VII. Bravely Default and SMT IV have made me realize that the 3DS is the perfect RPG handheld. Hopefully the good Bravely Default sales will mean we will see more in the next year or two here in the states.

Exactly. Just enough horsepower in the graphics department but portable so I can play it in the living room with my family. It's what's got me interested in RPG's again for the first time in nearly a decade.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Nintendo has been hitting home runs with RPGs on the DS brand for almost ten years now, it's so great. I really do wish they would give some of these games the home console treatment though, I miss those days.

The whole dual screen (DS) aspect is perfect for RPGs too. Have your stats on one screen, action on another...

And I prefer to play RPGs on handhelds these days. 40 hours in front of a TV isn't happening.

Funny how they can't seem to translate that to the Wii-U control pad...

Ugh. This. I can think of a dozen awesome ways to use that gamepad. The amount of potential being wasted disgusts me.

But if they made something that takes full advantage of the gamepad then they wouldn't be able to cheaply port it to the Xbone/PS4 (or even port it at all). No normal publisher is going to give up that much easy money.

That is the true conundrum that Nintendo faces. Do you make a creative game and limit its audience to only wii u users, or should we just port a common mainstream game that is open to every platform?

frustrating....but true.
