Re: Games Beaten 2014
I eventually want to play through some of the "AAA" 7th gen stuff... The Bioshock games, Assassin's Creed, God of War, Halo, etc..... Waiting for the games to get down to around $5 each first.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
Finished Stick of Truth. Only the fourth game I've finished this year.
I really liked it overall, though, it has the same problem the show has had for the last few years, the build up is more interesting than the conclusion.
The game isn't short, but I do wish there was more meat to it. When you have a quest system, you want the characters to change based on what you're doing and be able to see that reflected in the resulting quests.
Going through it somewhat casually, I had nearly half the achievements already. So, there isn't an enormous amount there.
It's heavier amount of content (and difficulty) than Costume Quest ... but it also costs a lot more too. The novelty of it being a fully voice acted South Park game that has the exact same fidelity and caliber as the show, can't be overlooked, though.
It's pretty great, but I don't know if it's something I'd play through multiple times.

Devil Kings(PS2)
Capcom's version of Dynasty Warriors transplanted to japan's Sengoku period. I played through as the eponymous Devil King and proceeded to murder roughly 4000 of my enemies. Suffice to say things get pretty hectic on screen. This is louder than life stuff with giant steampunk mechs, robotic priests and super-powered pretty boys standing in your path to dominance of japan.
It could do with a few more moves and combos but a single run through is fairly quick (under two hours) so it doesn't drag too much. You do unlock new moves and weapons as you go on for a bit of variety. Good fun though if a bit shallow.
Aladdin(Mega Drive)
Probably my favourite non-Mario/Sonic 16-bit platformer. Still a decent challenge even though I can beat it on a life these days. That sixth level tried its best to kill me though, the slag. Great graphics, some good reworkings of the films superlative soundtrack as well as a few cool originals courtesy of Tommy Tallarico. If I was being objective I'd say that the game has some issues with hit detection and that the difficulty spikes with levels six through eight and never gets any harder than that. But I'm not, so I still love it.
Aladdin(SNES)
A different beast altogether, Capcom's Aladdin is much easier, has more of an emphasis on fast obstacle based platforming and little combat. It also veers more often from the films setting to do its own thing. The graphics aren't as technically dazzling as the Mega Drive version but are good on their own merits even if some of the backgrounds are a bit repetitive. I like the vaulting and bouncing mechanic which turns every enemy and ledge into a springboard for reaching secrets. I think this version has the superior final boss as well. It also boasts the beautiful magic carpet level where you just fly along collecting gems with no threat. It's like a 16-bit Gone Home.

1. The Saboteur (PS3)
2. Crash Bandicoot Huge Adventure (GBA)
3. Defenders of Oasis (GG)
Slow start to the year I was totally wrapped up in The Saboteur until almost the end of February one achievement away from 100% completion (two if you count the achieve every achievement one).
Just finished Defenders Of Oasis for the Game Gear, 8-bit RPG goodness. Grinding starts to wear on me when I can sense the end is near, just let me walk for more than 3 seconds without a random encounter I want to stop the evil

Re: Games Beaten 2014
Thise games are very common at the pawn shops here in Charlotte, and they are usually marked below $5. Let me know if you would like me to assemble a care package for you (and whether you want them for the 360 or PS3...and whether you would like them CIB).BoneSnapDeez wrote:I eventually want to play through some of the "AAA" 7th gen stuff... Re: Games Beaten 2014
1/6: Dear Esther (Steam)
1/11: Hydrophobia: Prophecy (Steam)
1/14: Spirit Camera: Cursed Memoir (3DS)
1/26: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
2/1: 1,000,000 (Steam)
3/14: Thomas Was Alone (Steam)
3/15: Fairy Bloom Freesia (Steam)
3/22: Suikoden (PS1)
3/25: Wizorb (Steam)
3/28: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams (Steam)
Wizorb - Pretty much Breakout but with magic and a retro-ish look & sound. I am absolutely awful at this (just like Breakout
), but it's pretty short so pulled though. Only major problem I had with it was how long the worlds felt. There are 12 levels in each world (5 worlds total), and you have to do the 12 levels one after the other with no break. I think each world then ended up being an hour long each but feeling much, much longer than that ;-; (still enjoyed it though)
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - This is a pretty difficult platformer, and of course I am awful at this game too
(I am awful at platformers to begin with ha) However, I played on easy, so it wasn't as hard as it could of been. The concept was really fun, didn't feel cheap, pretty graphics, and the music was awesome
Only complaint really was that the final boss makes you sit around, while he finishes doing a silly taunt every single time you die bleh.

I downloaded this on XBLA a while ago and have yet to play it. I really need to get on it.laurenhiya21 wrote: 3/28: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams (Steam)[/b]

Seems like you enjoyed it though, so I'm glad to hear that.
