360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
$40 down the crapper. Absolutely won't connect to the receiver at all. I've followed all the instructions. I tried the drivers off disc and off the web site. I sync the receiver first, then the controller. I've tried different USB ports. Nothing helps. What the hell?
Re: 360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
Did the PC recognize the receiver when you plugged it in? Sounds like the drivers installed fine? Device Manager lists the wireless receiver right? Hmm, I usually press the sync button on the receiver first then press the sync button on the controller. Not sure if that makes a difference. Maybe it's a bad set?

Re: 360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
Did all that. It just never syncs. All it does is flashes the 4 green lights forever. For some reason it works on my laptop, but that's no good to me. Both of these machines are running the same installation of XP. There shouldn't be any differences between them.

I found some unofficial japanese drivers that work

Figures. Problem is, all Games for Windows titles wont recognise this as an official 360 controller now, and so they won't map the buttons or use the button decals. So we're back to useless again. I mean if I am to go back to the days of having to manually set all my buttons in games, then I will use my PS2-to-USB controller, since it's better in every way to the 360 controller design.
Still, Microsoft should be ashamed. No one in their business could figure out how to sync a controller, but some Japanese no-name did it.

ugh! What a rip. I actually was JUST about to get this the other day. Now i think i'll avoid it. Thanks for letting the board know you had such a crappy time with it.
Re: 360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
Never had a problem with mine. All my Games for Windows titles see it as a standard 360 controller.
Did you install the drivers first, then plug the adaptor in? I installed my drivers, restarted. Plugged the crossfire in and it recognised the adaptor, installed the device. I pressed sync on my crossfire first and then on the controller and it connected within seconds. Pressing the 'guide' button brings up battery level etc on screen.
I'm using Vista Ultimate 64bit too.

I did all that. I said I read the instructions. I did nothing wrong. Google it up! Countless people have the same problem.

Sounds like a Microsoft product... (not that I'm not a PC guy, but gee they make some dumb stuff)
Re: 360 Wireless pad for Windows is a piece of shit
Guess it's one of the few things that's good about Vista?
I don't really know what to suggest...
If you really don't like it you should just return it. They shouldn't be able to refuse as long as it's within 28 days. Spend the money on a wired 360 controller, or just another controller.
