Hi all,
Several moons ago I remember SNK released a whole load of cart only NGPC titles in four packs that came attached to a cardboard pack. They were super common on ebay and sold quite cheaply.
I've recently been reunited with my NGPC and was looking on ebay to pick up some new titles but I've noticed now that the number of games for the system being sold really seem to have dried up and prices seem to have increased quite a bit to the point where even loose carts are rather more than I was expecting.
Is the system becoming difficult to collect for? I'm sure there were a lot of loose Faselei carts floating around at the time that were pumped out onto the American market without boxes or manuals but now the only ones I find are the PAL game which all go for quite a high price.
Any recommendations on an alternate source to pick up titles for this system? Also can anyone tell me what a reasonable price would be to pay for Faselei as I've seen everything from £50 to £110 for a boxed copy (although I'd be happy enough with the cart).

I'm afraid I can't help with the questions other than to say that when I bought mine, those 4 game blister packs were pretty cheap and fairly easy to find, and that I too have noticed they've basically disappeared from eBay recently.Betagam7 wrote:Hi all,

I paid less than £20 per 4 game pack when I got my NGPC about 3 or 4 years ago now.

I remember them going rather cheaply at the time. I believe they were warehouse stock where the carts were produced prior to SNK's troubles and so no manuals or boxes were ever made. I think this is where four of my paltry six game collection came from.
The NGPC is a lovely system and all but I find it rather incredible that they aren't more common on ebay. Where did they all go?
I'm not sure if Faselei was one of the games offered on these blister packs but I've heard that the American market became flooded with them at one point which affected the price of the PAL version, yet now these carts seem to have disappeared and the PAL version is going for mega money again!
Peculiar.

I don't know if it was "flooded" in the US market. Faselei is still pretty sought out for US collectors (meaning, the actual US cartridge vs. an import). Personally, I collect US games, and only complete ones so I pretty much ignore loose carts and their prices (except of course for Faselei and Last Blade...). At any rate, check out this thread that has lots of good NGPC info weaved throughout: http://racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=42537

Great deals. Particularly as it seems that 2nd mission now seems to cost what those two packs probably cost you alone and Faselei seems to have vanished from the marketplace except in its expensive boxed form.alienjesus wrote:It sure was. Personally, while the PAL Jewel boxes were nice I really only care about collecting the carts as its a system I actively enjoy playing....if only I could find some!

can't speak on the PAL version, but the loose cart US one appears steadily on eBay. Albeit prices on that range from $40-$100, with $80-ish being pretty average. So yeah, not cheap.Betagam7 wrote:and Faselei seems to have vanished from the marketplace except in its expensive boxed form.

Thanks, that price guide is particularly handy!noiseredux wrote:I don't know if it was "flooded" in the US market. It's odd. I never considered at the time that these games would become so collectible as they seemed to be a ton of them going on clearance.

Thanks! Just remember, the price guide reflects complete w/ box & manual, US copies of the games. So cart-only copies, and import versions will fluctuate differently.Betagam7 wrote: Thanks, that price guide is particularly handy!

I've noticed that NGPC systems are starting to ramp up in scarcity and price, too. Makes me wish I'd bought more when you could get them for $45 new on Amazon.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
