With reviews, I generally only take notice if a game is getting exceptionally high or low praise. Rave reviews may encourage me to look into a game not on my radar. Conversely, a game I am interested in, that is getting thrashed in the reviews, will cause me to take pause (Aliens CM for example).
Other than that most reviewers rate based on personal preferences or nuances that may not align with what I prefer or mind.

I usually use gamer reviews when I go "dumpster diving" aka buying games that are under a Lincoln. A game rated over an 8 by "gamers" (I use the term loosely) is usually a good deal in my book.
I generally watch many (3-4) reviews from different sources ranging from "professional" to new Youtubers. This way I have a better chance at a unadulterated perspective on the game.
Gameplay is the best way to decide if i'm gonna like the game. With so many walktrhougs on youtube is hard to know how the game is. Also video reviews are helpfull. But the final desicion comes when i play the game i say it to myself many times "resident evil can't be that bad"... well i was really really wrong on that one.

So I played NARC today on MAT 2, and I didn't realize how much of a quarter guzzler it probably was back in the day, nevermind Eugene Jarvis' fixation with loading up arcade control panels with a million buttons (Defender is another example). Lives are easy to get at every 50K, but you lose as many as you get back through continues.
And you better have stocked up on lives, because if you didn't beat Mr. Big when you ran out, you'd have to do the entire battle again.
NOTE: I know about the the missing sound issue from the PC port of MAT 2 (I own it), but I believe there were some sound emulation issues from the console ports too (the NARC guy doesn't go BUSTED every time he shoots a rocket!). Plus, I'm sure we all know about the sped up Wizard of Wor present on the compilation! (the PC port fortunately doesn't do that)

^ That's always what kills me. I can't get to Mr. Big with more than one life.
And Midway arcade controls are indeed ridiculous. Defender should have been a 2 button game.
Does anybody else buy from Ryoplanshop on ebay? He always sends me a sachet of green tea with a purchase. The tea tastes okay, but it smells a bit like KFC. Weird.

I think your question should instead be: "hey guys, if a random seller on ebay sent you tea, would you then make it and consume it?"
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I bought from them once and got the tea. I'm not huge on green tea and it was a while back. It was ok I suppose.
