Actually, yeah. Are you guys on console or PC? What's the setup?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

We're on Dreamcast. The server doesn't take too much to get going. There's boot disc you can burn to avoid some CodeBreaker stuff that I don't understand.

Depending on what version you have, we're on v.2 for the Dreamcast. If you have a BBA or a 56K connection, you'll have to do some different steps to connect.

If you have a BBA, set your DNS to the server's IP (67.222.144.120) and you should connect automatically. I live on campus, so I had to input my gateway, subnet, and my console's IP into my Broadband Adapter's flash memory.

Noise is better to consult if you're connecting via the modem.

I brought this up a few weeks ago and people just made fun of me for wanting dial-up.

Have you ever tried running it through a PC to allow you to use your regular internet service? I keep looking at PSO on my shelf, and resisting the urge to play it until I can actually get online.

I've had my DC on dialup for years. There's free dialup ISP's out there that you can use. And my phone service is free long distance, so I didn't need one that was local. Feel free to hit me up if you need any help.

I have tried to do the PC-DC server thing in the past. F that. After a couple of wasted evenings spent trying to trouble shoot in flavors of Linux I knew nothing about, I decided that just dialing via modem was a heck of a lot easier.

The BBA, while convenient will only play 3 games (PSO, Q3 and the homebrew port of Doom) while dialup will allow you to play a handful more (but sadly, no Doom).

And finally there's the Netopia method, which basically uses a couple of standalone devices to literally answer the modem and stream thru your internet router. So it's kind of like using a modem as a BBA... this method seems pretty legit, but it is pricey to set up so I've never ventured into it.

tl;dr: PSO on DC is teh awesomes.

Do you need an existing land line phone service to use the free dial-up ISPs?
