When will SNES games start going down in price again?
When will SNES games start going down in price again?
SNES seems to be the hot system to collect for right now, which is a shame because it's my favorite console. Prices for SNES games have gone up over the past few years and it's kind of a bummer. I have a big wish list of SNES games and at least 1/3 of them go for over $50 and almost half go for over $25. I really don't want to pay $160 for Dracula X or Earthbound, and I'm sitting here watching the price for Demon's Crest go up and up, now sitting at around $80 loose. I like that so many people seem to appreciate these games but man, it's tough to collect for this system right now. Do you think prices will start dropping any time soon? Or is it going to be years before the SNES starts falling out of fashion?

It's probably going to keep going up until Emulation goes mainstream or till Gaming looses popularity which might never happen.

Never. Collect Genesis instead. Blast processing > $300 carts.

snes games is a rich man's console to collect for now
. It's one hell of a system though but the prices are going to stay up. 3 Years ago you can get good games at decent prices but now forget it.

It's not going to happen IMO. Emulation is already mainstream and re-releases on the VC and other digital stores haven't done much to help.

Pretty much what has already been said, if virtual console releases haven't done much to affect the value of Snes games..I don't know what will. If anything games will probably slowly just increase in value or at the very least stay the same.
I wouldn't feel too discouraged, there are always good deals to be found!

Yeah, I'm thinking of changing my collecting style. I have this bad habbit of looking for the best, cheapest games I can get. But in doing so, some of most most wanted games are going ignored. It's a quantity over quality problem. To fix this, for my monthly collecting budget I'm going to try and get one expensive game and try to find as cheap a copy as I can, a few mid range priced titles, and top it off with some sub $10 games. It will probably feel more satisfying this way, especially if these spendy carts are going to keep going up in price...
The tough thing will be trying to stay sub $100 for the spendy carts. Maybe looking for game lots with some good resells in them is the key there.

SNES games defy the logic that sales trends are cyclical. For now at least.
I, like others, have noticed that trends still exist in the gaming community. Not meaning to talk down to anyone, but kids seem to place more value on the snes than the Genesis. With time, I think that trend will change as what is cool now, isn't cool later (like me using the word "cool").
My collecting philosophy goes as such: If I've never heard of it and it is a a good price, I buy it. That goes for every system. It doesn't always pay off, but I collect games to play them, so at least I get a decent experience out of my purchases. The more bizarre the better, at least usually in my case.
