NES Blinking power light

Post by Ryuzaki »

I just found my NES after searching for a week or so, and my front-loader has a blinking light. I've tried spraying compressed air into the cartridges and the actual NES. I've Googled around a lot and I think I might have to replace a part inside.

yeah, i think you might need to replace the PIN, shouldnt be too expensive or hard to do, if that is the problem, or just buy a top loader

Just get a new pin connector off eBay, they're like $10 and work perfectly. They're really easy to install as well.

If you get one, just make sure to clean all of your games before using them again. You don't wanna get any dust or gunk on your pins.

Yes 72-pin connectors are probably the easiest peices of game hardware to install, just screws and pushing it into place! once you install a new one it will play all your games perfect first try!

FYI
heres the guide i followed to install mine!

sod that.

Open it up take the connector off and push them in a bit and you'll get perfect contact with the cartridges

This ^^

Buying a new connector is pointless, just open it up and bend the pins so that they connect with the cartridge better.

I did this to my NES after it was in storage for years and it worked like a charm. The only reason you would need to buy a new connector would be because the pins have corroded. If they're intact then just bending them will fix the problem for you.

Seriously don't bother spending money on a new connecter!

open the nes up get your connector off and first give it a GOOD clean (i used a toothbrush and some metholated spirits) to get all the grime off (also do this to carts) then get a tiny screwdriver and bend all the pins back so that when the cart is push in it will be a lot tighter and harder to get in and out...

while it does make the nes kind of hold onto a cartridge too tightly atleast everything plays perfectly

The problem with that advice is that the "quit it" portion of the process becomes much more complicated after the "hit it" maneuver has been completed. Much easier to "quit it" before all else.
