Anyone know how to access the (2) extra ships (Blade Owl and whatever the other is?)

I have the unlimited version PCB - but only 7 ships are available...

From the mameinfo.dat file I've got:

To unlock 2 more fighter planes, insert a coin and press Up(x2), Down(x2), Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start (the entering of this code has to be finished before the counter passes 10).

I had a run earlier where I thought I was doing pretty well: 3.5 million from Stage 1, got the medals up to max, 7 million by Stage 4. I was thinking 10 million was definitely on the cards. Unfortunately I made the fatal error of hoarding extra lives (I think I had 4 to spare at the end of Stage 4), which sent the rank through the roof on Stage 5. Met with a hail of bullets, I got killed, lost the medal chain, got killed a few more times, scraped onto Stage 6 and game-overed with a score of 7.5 million. Doh!

A lesson for all the kids. In the above run I lost two lives within the first minute of the game, thought of giving up but decided to stick with it, ended up doing my best run yet, getting the extend and managed this without that option special where the options get close and personal with the enemies.

The moral of the story, never give up!

Anyways, I'm sure someone mentioned this already, but how do you get the 100k medals once the 10k medals appear? I know it's something about chaining big enemies, but I don't really get it.

When you have an active multiplier (from larger enemies) during a period your medal chain is currently at 10K, enemies destroyed during that time will leave 100K medals for as long as you don't die or miss other 10K medals.
