Feeling bad about the games I damaged as a child

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I would like to say that the condition of my collection ranges from good to excellent because I was a careful kid, but honestly, much of the credit goes to my parents' direct involvement. Both my mother and father had such terrible experiences with their own parents discarding their favorite childhood toys and/or creations (cards, drawings, school assignments) that they very consciously saved, kept track of, and cared for the things they noticed were beloved to me. They anticipated the day I'd rejoice as an adult that we still had, say, that threadbare Sonic the Hedgehog t-shirt I wore every day in 1993, or that hideous rattan swag lamp that nobody else liked but which I inexplicably loved. (True stories. They occurred last Thanksgiving and Christmas, respectively.)

So don't feel bad, OP. The fact that my games and consoles were always carefully stored in reasonable temperatures and sensible bins is most definitely not something I could personally take credit for from ages four to twelve.

My real regrets are entirely my own, though. When I was in middle school I was briefly sensitive to the disapproval of a "cool" friend, and pressured myself to get rid of things I thought were "babyish," or which embarrassed me to be so attached to. 80% of my virtual pet collection disappeared in this fashion, for instance. And when I graduated college and embarked on a long string of moves from apartment to apartment, I made decisions to get rid of some items based on how awkward they were to transport. The day I put the majority of my VHS collection to rest because I couldn't bear to think about carting those heavy boxes again was a sad one indeed.

Well I know I threw a crap-ton of boxes away. I'm from that kind of family even if i wanted to keep the box(which even as a kid I did, and had no idea why I wanted too)...but it always ended up getting thrown away...I've got the manuals for quite a few games but the boxes are ancient history. Not to mention I've made the mistake of selling or losing a ton of games...

Especially the ones that are in what was my collective library over the years for gba:
2 in 1Yugioh
Boktai
Classic NES Series (Zelda: ALTTP)
Demikids light and dark
DK: king of swing
DK Country 1-3
DBZ: TLoG I and II(need to check out the others that were put on this)
Duel Masters(can’t remember which out of the three)
Frogger adventure
Final Fantasy I and II(first time I played this and still haven’t beat to this day for some odd reason)
Game and Watch Gallery 4
Golden Sun(series)
Harvest Moon: FoMT(don’t know why I loved this one)
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Legend of Spyro(season games didn’t play the others on gba :-\)
Legend of Zelda: TMC
Lunar Legend
Mario and Luigi: SSS
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Mario Vs DK
Mario Tennis: Power tour
Mega Man BN - 1-6(amazing show and amazing games)
Pokemon Emerald(no gen 1 because yellow was enough and the other gen 3 didn’t compare)
Prehistorik Man(random Christmas present and loved for some odd reason)
Ratatouille (good though i would’ve rathered of played a console 3d version)
Summon Night
Sword of Mana
Tales of Phantasia
Yugioh( Dungeon Dice, Reshef of Destruction, Destiny board Traveler, and Sacred Cards didn’t have the others but I wanted them)
^ about 80-85% of those I either stupidly sold or lost like I said before....I regret every second I think of it imagining what my library might be like now...
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.
