Fair Trade-In or Dumb Move?

Post by babyfacer88 »

Was just wondering everyone's thought of my latest trade-in?

I give:
Sega Saturn System Complete (missing RF/AV cord)
Saturn- Daytona USA (Disc Only)
Saturn- Galactic Attack Complete

I get:
Sega Genesis Games:
-NBA Jam Tournament Edition
-Street Fighter 2 Special Championship Edition
Used Genesis 6 Button Controller
New Unversial RF Switch for NES, SNES, and Genesis
$5.00

Thoughts?

Good Deal, or I get Schooled? Was wondering as Im reading alot of thoughts of folks loving the Sega Saturn System?

Seems like a bad trade in my opinion. As you kind of alluded to, the Saturn is fantastic and I wouldn't trade mine for any other retro gaming system.

Why don't you just try to get some Saturn games in which you may be interested?

Seems really bad. A Saturn by itself is worth far more money than that Genesis bundle. A Genesis/Sega CD trade is something more in the ball park.

From what I read he didn't even get a console through the trade.

You get 2 games, a controller and a RF switch?

I would of never taken it. The controllers for the Saturn alone are worth the 2 games. Check it on ebay, Saturn controllers are a commodity to come by... especially the version 2 controllers.

To be blunt I think you got hosed. You could've sold your Saturn if you picked up an A/V cable for about $50 bucks give or take and picked up a Sega Genesis bundle like that in the range of $20-$25 easily and pocketed the other $25.00

***I just reread that, and if you didn't even get a Genesis system in that trade you were ripped off. NBA Jam and Street Fighter Tournament Edition Complete go for about $3.00 a piece IF that.

ouch! horrible deal. Why on earth would you sell Gallactic Attack??!!! Were the genesis games at least complete?

Est value of what you gave:
Saturn (-av): $25
Daytona USA: $1
Gallactic Attack: $10

Total: $36

What you got
SF2: loose $2 comp $4
NBA Jam: loose $0.01 comp $0.04
6 button genny controller: $6
RF switch: $4
$5=$5

total: $17.01 w/loose $19.01 w/comp
the controller is probably the best thing you got.

plus the games you recieved aren't that great over all. fun titles, but there are better ports out there. sorry man...thats a rip.

I'm hoping he mistyped and wrote $5 instead of $25 or $35

saturn is a cd system that hard to emulate with large games

genesis is like 100% emulated and games are like 3 mb each,

why u trade a complex saturn for a system that you can fully play on your pc?

First of all, thanks for all of the Feedback. Even though it's a wakeup call, I needed it.

Confession: I am new to the Retro Collecting Market (but this field is of great interest to me and I'm willing to learn, so I'm not leaving anytime, or dont plan to.)

Secondly, it was for a internet company that was offering these prices to me, and I have decide on second thought not to ship this to them, because You guys helped me figure out how Ignorant I am in the Retro Market.

Anyone can point out a Nice Current Vintage/Classic Games Price Guide for me if possible and any Saturn Accesories that are a Must-Have if I expect to be Hardcore Retro-Gamer?

P.S. My Saturn is UnModded, and I'm willing to Learn how to Super-Dupe it up, after I realized it's worth keeping!
