ok, now I'm confused.

Some folks on Dreamcast-Talk are saying that Redux is actually a remake of Dux. If that's true I'm not really sure the point of putting out a revision in 2013 and then a remake in 2014.

But I really can't find any solid proof one way or the other. The Hucast description just says that it's "a new shooting game from the makers of Dux" and doesn't mention it being a remake. So now I don't know.

Either way, I've got it pre-ordered...

Edited in lieu of Ellert's post. I'm stunned, and a little ticked.

Sorry to continue steering the conversation away from NEO XYX, but it apparently Redux is a remake of Dux (1.5)
What's worse is that it's turning out to be a blurry buggy mess :?

Shit is getting real over at the shmups forum

Why is the damn thing so blurry? It's like somebody took the video output and applied Smooth five times over. I honestly can not make out the differences between some power-ups because of this.

Poor excuse for a manual. It's a pamphlet, a flyer. It barely covers the controls, and that's it.

Dux 1.5 looks as sharp as you'd expect, and you can actually see what's happening. And since it seems the games are largely the same, down to the weapons, stages, enemy locations and bosses, I'm not entirely sure what the point of Redux: Blur Edition is.

There is no point, because it's been blurred out.
And then he posted this side-by-side comparison:

So I assume some other folks have gotten their copy? Very happy with the game - it is VERY fast but polished and engaging like NGDev's other DC stuff. I don't know that this is one I will ever 1cc, but they do give you $2 worth of credits to try and make it through, so I'll start by working on that ;)

I do like it. I've not put in many runs yet. Haven't even beat the first stage. I find it feels really fast... like almost too fast. Just me?

It is fast - I think that's the appeal, though. There is the button that slows your ship and that is marginally useful. I have played a few runs and at best have got deep into Level 2 on my 1st credit. I also just burned through credits to get to see stages and maybe made it to the second to last stage? The artwork and music is all very nice - worth playing through past the 1st credit to see it :)

ah yeah forgot about the slow-down button. I've been completely obsessed w/ Triggerheart this week, so just haven't had a chance to spend much real time w/ NEO or Redux yet. But def in my "to play soon" pile.

haha, I remember that post. I actually re-read it recently. I seriously love Triggerheart big time. I've put in an hour or two almost every night this week. But that's prob talk best left for another thread. (Speaking of, if you get a chance, put a couple runs in and post up in the hi-score thread I've been bumping this week).
