I'm looking forward to it, but is it me, or do the people anticipating a Shenmue 3 announcement, not quite grasp the meaning of the term, 'postmortem'?

Yeah, same man. I just don't know why people are getting their hopes up. Seems like it'll end and people will be bitterly disappointed. No spoilers! I'm teaching class and planning on watching the stream later. The tweets sound really incredible and just being a fan of the series I think it's fascinating to hear about the development and all the work that went into this game. Funny hearing that people didn't realize peoples' routines were AI scripted and the same goes for the weather consulted over a three year period. Great to see people hearing new things about this series. I know we can be elitist jerks sometimes about the things we like, but it's great to hear about people appreciating Yu's hard work after all these years.

Okay, listening to the Postmortem now. The likeness that the Virtua Fighter RPG (I always remember hearing that Ryo in essence was a young Akira from previously reading) shares with Shenmue is uncanny. The basic plot details that Yu shared today about Akira travelling to China, facing his rival Randi, beating him and starting a new journey with a friend seems all to familiar. I'll post more after I hear the rest of the show.
EDIT: Holy crap that concept art. Suspicions confirmed. Looks like from the change of the game's title, that they're basically one in the same. This is all really cool fanfare and I love hearing some of the history and development that is being discussed. Yu was really intentional about the level of detail he placed into the game.
