I guess were having a disconnect on the whole 'gamers love nostalgia' thing. If you can pick up your super mario/duck hunt or sonic 2 or yoshi's island that a friend had hand-picked off your shelves as a retro game to play with you... instead of looking at a rom list... there is a difference. A difference people are apparently willing to play for.

Ha ha, and someone just had to make the weird comment....but it is true XD For some odd reason I miss the cartridge days(discs are nice but kids unless they have parents from the generation of this will never understand blowing on cartridges or jiggling it around to get it to work XD)

I'd like to make a clarification here. Hyperkin (being a more or less legitimate company) does not approve of ROMs. They have stated more than once, that the Retron 5 will not play ROMs.

The next part of this is assumption on my part. Take this with a grain of salt. I am assuming that the Retron 5 will eventually be hacked by someone with more technical expertise than I have. I am further assuming that these future hackers will utilize either the usb port or the SD card port (or both) to allow power users to load ROMs. I speculate that once the hackers revise the process a few times, regular users such as you or I may be able to hack a Retron 5 to play ROMs as easily as a wii. This all remains to be seen.

As their post states, they just got boxes in. Hopefully this is a sign they are close to production!
