Skippy. In times of doubt, "Pshh. I once went without food for a month, I can do this".

A super-greasy Phillie Cheese Steak with mushrooms mixed in and curly fries from the bowling alley. I've never had one with mushrooms before, and I've been missing out.

True to form, Shepards Pie. Not American nonsense that is called Shepards pie made with Beef. This is made with a mix of Lamb and Mutton, cooked into a nice braise with onion, then peas and carrots added to the mix. It is transitioned into a baking dish and covered in homemade whipped potatoes then baked. It is simply heaven.

Sadly it also cost a fair amount to make - its about $15 in meat alone. But soon we should be growing all the vegetables and I might be getting some butchered sheep this summer for a family friend.

You actually have a place you can find mutton, Fast? I cannot find any around me for the life of me, the few middle eastern restaurants around here that serve it get it direct from the "motherland" (so they say).

I'd love intel on any specific types of butchers or farms you know that may ship mutton out (especially ground mutton).

thanks!

I live in the deep country, so I just went to the local butcher and bought it. They stock it occasionally, I just got lucky they had some on Saint Paddys. I would recommend checking out Eatwild:

For farms near Buffalo that have sheep. On a quick search the Freeman Homestead has sheep, and deliverers to Buffalo occasionally, they are in Stockton.

Occasionally you can find exotic meat import companies and they can get you damn near anything.

I'm both jealous and glad I didn't partake.

Are you sure that your location on your profile shouldn't say, "Canada?"
