So what is a normal person going to beat it in? It won't be 10 minutes I'll tell you that.

People are butt hurt, because they love this series. So for those people, it is a bummer to feel like they have to wait to play this because they want to play it now when it is new and in the zeitgeist.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Pretty easy to beat most of the other MGS games in a few hours.

It's only $20 on the PS network.

I never really liked MGS games but this one was pretty fun. I might actually go back and give the others another try.

Even the longest most content-filled ones (MGS3 and 4) can be beat in an hour and a half, give or take five minutes.

I've only played about twenty minutes of it so far but I got a strong splinter cell vibe from the game. The graphics look great too.

Chaos Theory Splinter Cell, or Conviction?

Eh no title in particular; just talking in the general sense: carrying bodies around, shooting out lights, hiding in the shadows... that kind of stuff. It just feels more like a stealth game and less like an 80's action movie.

Did you listen to her audio logs? Kinda had it coming.

Took me around two hours for the main mission/cutscenes, taking my time, redoing stuff, and wandering more than necessary. The title screen says I've done 9% of the things. It's fairly open, so an exact route to the objectives for that wouldn't take long once you know it, but it also doesn't force you to do much. Extra missions set forth objectives that could have been worked in as mandatory, and might have been in past games.
For example, you can find explosives to take out anti-aircraft placements to make an extraction safe enough from the middle of the base. Stealing a truck and driving back to an already-safe landing zone, however, is a lot easier and faster. Similarly, locked doors just mean taking a few second to pick them, not finding a keycard.

It is kind of just a taste of the new direction they're trying to take, and possibly a beta test (it couldn't connect to the server, so I couldn't try the companion app).

Maybe it was the change in voice actors, but it felt more like a spiritual sequel than part of the series.

Peace Walker felt a little detached too, so I'm not totally surprised.

Still excited, but as a huge fan I'm not sure what I'll think of it. At the very least, hopefully the boss battles and long cutscenes (oh yeah bring them on baby) are more of a thing again in Phantom Pain. Linearity has typically been something I actually like in the series, so... could go either way with me I guess.
