Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
Back on topic...
I am strangely excited that Big Buck Hunter Pro was released for the Wii and that it is becoming collector's item. I adore cheesy arcade games - which is why I own every game in the Cruis'n series and the so-bad-it's-good Target Terror - and I am really looking forward to picking up to tracking down a copy of Big Buck Hunter Pro.
EDIT: Counting them up over the weekend, I realized that I now have 200+ Wii games, and there are still 50+ games on my want list. The Wii library is just so broad, and there are just so many fun and unique games hidden in it.
DOUBLE EDIT: The oddest items on my "want list" include:
Aqua Panic
Bermuda Triangle: Saving the Coral
Doctor Fizzwizzle's Animal Rescue
Free Running
Gunslingers
Oregon Trail
Princess Isabella: A Witches Curse
Professor Heinz Wolff's Gravity
Rock Blast
Veggy World
I know that they exist, but have any of you actually seen copies of these games?

Not counting the few that have already become rare/expensive... Is it silly to speculate what games will go up in price? Games that aren't garbage and are only selling for $1-5, their price has no where to go but up. And I definitely remember about 10 years ago, NES, SNES and Genesis games were all much cheaper... look at the prices now. That'll be the Wii in 10 years.
No, it won't. Of course prices will increase, but it will be nothing like the NES, etc. and this thread is exactly why. No one thought those games would become collectible or valuable and that's why they are now. Just like baseball cards, comics or toys.

I disagree completely. Look at the prices on a lot of Gamecube games right now - many have shot through the roof, most notably all the Zelda games (there are five or six alone on Gamecube, all fetching over $40 and into the $60 range) the Pikmin games, Mario Party games, and then there are the more niche titles like Eternal Darkness, Metal Gear Twin Snakes, Fire Emblem, etc.the King wrote:Ziggy587 wrote:dsheinem wrote:

Just because these games are a low point right now doesn't mean they will stay that way - in fact, they won't. It all comes down to supply and demand, as has been mentioned countless times already. This won't happen for several years, but it will happen eventually. The Wii catches a lot of flak and seems to be suffering from a stigma that there are few worthwhile games available - we know this isn't the case, but we're also gaming nerds. When awareness/demand increases, the prices will do likewise. Look at almost every other gaming generation for examples of this.

~10 years ago, there was plenty of NES, SNES and Genesis games that could be had for $5-15 that are all $20-$50 now. The Wii is gonna be exactly like that.
I'm not counting things like Stadium Events, World Championship, Donkey Kong Country Competition, etc.

Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
This thread has given me a heads up on a lot of Wii games that have already seen increase in value. Thanks to all for the help. We need one for the PS3 also.

Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
While I don't know if the Wii holds a particular game akin to the rarity of Little Samson or any of the other "money" titles, no one else does either, and it's impossible to predict at this point anyway. Who's to say what the gaming/retro culture will look like in +10 years and how history will look back on the Wii library? There was a time, probably less than five years ago, when Little Samson could be had for sixty bucks, and even less before that. To say with any certainty that isn't a game in the Wii library that doesn't have that potential is probably an incorrect assumption.
