haha. So I hit the liquor store last night and bought Mayflower Pale Ale (brewer from Plymouth, MA) and Guinness Red Harvest... and some B'Light. As much as I love good beer, it's nice to keep cheap beer around too. As TSTR said, "there's drinking and dranking"... or something like that.

Anyway, gameroom yeah, I'm working on it. We're gonna be painting in here soon finally. The walls are currently white and have lots of nail holes and scuffs so I never bothered hanging anything in here. I also still need a nice chair for my desk. I've been using this folding chair for years.

Played some Record of Lodoss War. Those cutscenes are pretty brutal to watch and look somewhat dated, but then I realize the game is about 14 years old now. Still, this is a very fun dungeon crawler and I anticipate playing more of it.

Then I flew through a few areas of Grandia II. It's been a great Saturday!

Teaser for tomorrow: Got a boxed peripheral that is going to be exciting. It's not a lightgun, which is the only peripheral I don't have for the Dreamcast. Noise, it's not the BBA.

I hit up another Savers and as I was browsing they put out a DC console, so I bought it.

yeah it's in nice shape. The two controllers were a nice bonus I didn't even know was included w/ the $25 pricetag. I threw this one in my arcade setup so you don't even see it since it's hidden underneath. But it works great.

That is why I miss memory cards. They were a hassle/annoying to buy after dropping cash on a console, but the ability to move saves from console to console (couch DC to arcade DC) is something I miss with modern consoles. Modern consoles allow removable media, but since they don't save there automatically copying saves can be a pain.

I agree and disagree SB. The portability is great for sure, especially if you have multiple consoles. But it can be a drag to keep track of which save is on which VMU. (Unless you keep batteries in them haha)

Most games (all?) will allow you to save to multiple VMU's at once. I generally keep 4 pads plugged in w/4 VMU's and if it's something "important", i'll save it to all 4 VMU's.

I'm pretty sure you don't lose any data when the battery dies - at least not in my experience? You just lose the ability to access it until you put a new battery in.

You don't need to have the batteries in them to save or load, nor do you lose the data on them, since they're flash memory. You just lose the portability options they have. I took the batteries out of the VMUs I have. I also have as many as I can put into the pads at one time and check up on them before playing the game that has the save data I need, because some games don't allow you to save or load anywhere but the top slot of the first controller (Capcom's Spawn, I'm looking at YOU)

I have 4 VMUs. One for rpg, arcade (fighters), adventure and one for games I gave up on and will return to again. Unfortunately I labeled them all with Sharpie.
